I filled out some apps for a trucking company they only asked for the last 3 years of work experience. I have had 2 jobs in the past 3 years one was for 03/2010 to 04/2013 the other has been from 04/2013 till now. My question is both are sub contracted jobs both say they will give me reference's but I am worried that one will not simply because it is with a temp type of agency that is the one I only been at since 4/2013. The person who always books me for gigs says he would give me a reference but there not supposed too told me too put down his cell phone number and not the office number. when I called the trucking company to check on my app they looked up the office number online and put it down too .What would a trucking company do if one of my reference does not give me a reference ? would they still offer me a job? p.s I'm letting every little thing worry the crap out of me because I really want to drive a truck

Pay stubs should be sufficient. They're not looking for a performance revue, just a verification that you were employeed.

Most companies will only verify dates of employment, and a temp agency should do the same. So a reference may be done by anyone that can confirm your dates of employment. Every company can be a little different, but this is generally what is done. Some of the small companies will give an actual reference. I do not see a problem if the temp agency only gives dates of employment to your prospective employer, as that is what most companies do these days.

You could call the prospective company and ask them if they were able to reach Mr. X for a reference. You could also call Mr. X and see if he has gotten a call from your prospective company......that way you would know.

I don't know if your prospective company will answer your question if you called them, but you could certainly try. You could call them on the basis of you are just checking to see if they getting all the information they need on your background, and then ask if they were able to reach Mr. X and explain your relationship with him as the person that did your booking of loads and he could state how reliable you were and how good you were to work with.

They're also looking for people who can keep a job.

hmmm...it may be a problem for ya, if they can't verify employment by dates then they wont except the employment at all.

Some companies may be okay with work history while others may not be.

They try to verify all recent references you gave by faxing a release form you signed during app process. It's mandatory to go back 10 years of driving. They will fax that to all your previous employers to verify experience relevant to the job you applied for. Once they get the amount of minimum experience required for that job then you should be offered the job. If they can't verify your experience they can't hire you.
