Just like the thread says. I will be a newbie in a couple months and I'm leaning towards tanker or flatbed. I live in western WI about 65 miles from there but may wanna try a company out of that area to maximize home time and covienience for training. Any suggestions who I should look at? (or stay away from?). I can certainly google all the big ones but would like to avoid a mega if possible. Another question, can a rookie start in tanker?
    Thanks

Yes, some tanker companies hire new CDL graduates. Here's a good mix of companies to look at. Ignore any "experience required" and apply anyway if you're interested in a company.

    Blachowske Truck Line
    Roehl Transport
    Maverick
    JBS Carriers
    TMC
    Superior Carriers
    Schneider Bulk
    NAPA Auto Parts
    Melton Truck Lines

    Olsmann and bergy Thank this.

Thank you. Are any of these based in MLPS/ST PAUL?

I don't believe any of those are "Based" in the cities.

Blachowske-Brandon, South Dakota, no terminal in the cities
Roehl-Marshfield, Wi. Only a drop yard in the cites
Maverick-Little Rock, Arkansas. No Terminal in the cites
JBS-Greely, Colorado. No terminal in the cities
TMC-Des Moines, Iowa. No terminal in the cites
Superior Carriers- Oak Brook, Illinois. No terminal in the cites
Schneider Bulk-Green Bay, Wi. No terminal in the cites
NAPA Auto Parts- 1 freight hauler job in the cites. Must have class A or B
Melton-Tulsa, Oklahoma. No terminal in the cites

Locations are as listed by company websites

I live in Rochester, MN about 75 minutes from Roehl's drop yard in St. Paul and run flatbed out of there. I park the truck there while on hometime.

If you want to get into an LTL company ABF and Conway Freight are both taking students in the twin cites area.

You're splitting hairs. Many companies have dedicated accounts that won't be listed on their websites. Dedicated or logistics accounts won't usually be listed as terminals or on trucking company websites, but the trucks assigned to those accounts will be "based" at that location. Just a couple of the hundreds of examples are grocery warehouses or Walmart Distribution Centers. These accounts won't be listed on websites, but various trucking companies may have 100 trucks based at those locations.

So do you suggest if I apply at one of these (or any other) That I ask first if the have any openings for dedicated in my area? Or is that pushing it for a newbie?
