    Hello,

I am going into my last week at CDL school and will be testing this Friday (cross fingers;).

For companies, what I am thinking I would like to explore are companies that offer OTR/48 out of Seattle as well as run regional west and if possible also serve Pacific NW/more local routes if available (not required first year though).

I would like to do some OTR, but was thinking later this year it would be good if that same company also provides more regional/local options too, so if I want to move into those the first year or so, I can do it without changing companies.

I have seen Interstate and Gordon are larger, Seattle area companies. Also, Swift offers OTR, regional and NW heavy haul options.

Any opinions on those companies for my first year or recommendations on other trucking companies that might work well for Seattle area? If I go OTR, just want to have enough options to get home when I can.

Thanks in advance, excited to get started, but want to get on with a good company my first year!

trans-system website offers 3 companies that have the options you're looking for and all 3 companies hire new CDL graduates.

Gordon. They have a pretty good reputation, and they're based out of Kent, technically "Pacific, Washington". The company recently changed up its management so there's no guarantee they'll be the same as they were before, but they're close and I think they hire new drivers.

They'll run you pretty hard, but most of the people who have worked for them liked them. They also put APU's on all their trucks, except heavy haul.

Yeah. I''m working for them right now. They're not bad depending on what division you go into. They'll train you for flatbed if you go that route, which is pretty valuable experience for later on in your career if you're planning to do this for a while.

You head to Tacoma and Seattle both a lot, especially if you're in their Regional fleet. Based in Spokane, WA

They really like it if you have your visa to go into Canada. (and in the flatbed fleet you get 100 bucks per round trip into Canada.)

Off topic, but just read on Fox News the Seattle, WA based Polar Star, a Coast Guard icebreaker is on its way to Antartica to try and rescue two ships that are locked in ice down there. Good job Seattle and USCG!
