Always the mystery vehicle that caused it got away.
Just 3 weeks ago I was sitting in a parking lot at an intersection of two state highways in TX and heard a crash. Looked up and saw a flatbed with his I-beams slid up against his cab shield. I knew right what he did. Hit the brakes when he realised he was going too fast to make his right turn. Chains were too loose on the steel and the load hit the back of his tractor. I walked over to see if there was anything I could do for him. He asked if I saw it. I said no I heard it and looked up. He then made up the mystery car who cut him off and kept going. I don't remember seeing any vehicles around him as I looked up when I heard the crash.
I walked back to my truck and played back my dashcam video and there was no one who cut him off. He just made it up to take blame off himself.
Just sayin. Can't blame us for being skeptical here.Dinomite and double yellow Thank this. -
Glad you're OK.
But I'm with Dinomite in that your story strikes me as strange. Either the road was snowy/icy (in which case an oncoming truck's wake could conceivably slide a 70,000lb truck a few inches over but even still you'd be going WAY WAY WAY too fast), or the snow wasn't sticking (in which case you probably got nervous drove onto a soft shoulder and either got sucked in or panicked and steered too abruptly towards the roadway).
Having grown up in the Sierra-Cascades, I'm more comfortable in snow than most, but I wouldn't be going 55mph on this road in inclement weather especially with traffic anywhere in sight. -
Sorry wasn't trying to imply you were untruthful. just no roads like that around here. (im a yankee)

That very well could be the case. I won't deny my inexperience. I also had the vortex from the two trucks passing me in the opposite direction.

Be skeptical all you want after all I am just some annonamous guy on the internet, but so are you so I really don't care if you believe me or not. I never said they crossed the line or anything and I take complete blame for the accident. I have just tried to state the conditions as I know them and what I think caused it which involves everything from inexperience to adverse weather. Also the other drivers are not mysterious drivers who got away. For one they are on the company dash cam for two I talked to the rear one yesterday athe the yard (he was one of our drivers as well).

With all the advice on here and of course having rolled my truck I will deffinately be slowing down more when conditions are like that again. I felt at the time that I was fine but I learned the hard way I wasn't.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

so,you still have a job or did they send you down the road?

When it snows in Oklahoma its bad, even the slowest drivers have issues. If roads aren't cleared and you don't even know if you're in your lane or if you're too close to the ditch, then its time to find a place and call it a day. You're not making any headway anyways.
Chewy352 Thanks this. -

The wife just got on the truck with me yesterday and already got thrown out of the bunk. I had to break hard for a deer on a 2 lane highway and yelled deer a second before hitting the brakes. Next think I know the wife is in the cab with me. After checking that she was alright she got the "thats why i told you to use the net back there speech.
Other than thats it's been nice.
If it's not one thing it's another. Glad your wife wasn't with you on this last trip.
