I too caught fever this week. How are payments handled? Can they deduct trk payment and insurance payments from my checking account? Thanks for any help.

Any info you have for me on the lease-purchase Choice plan would be greatly appreciated. Kinda getting tired of not getting the miles I need or should be getting while being out a few weeks at a time. Started thinking about going regional because if I'm only going to get 2000 miles a week, I may as well be home every week with the family. Just my thought.

Your profile reads student. If you are inexperienced, try for 2 years with one carrier. If it's with a carrier like Schneider then so much the better. Everyone in the trucking industry knows Schneider. It can be regional or otr, but 2 years with a company like Schneider and your choices increase greatly. Depending on where you live local positions may be available, like intermodal. If you have a family it's important to remember you are paying your own health insurance with the choice program. The Schneider website has a list of available positions. Put in your application. Make contact with them, network. They have the answers. Everyone has their own experiences. Many won't agree with my opinion on large carriers. When I started it was almost impossible to find a job without 2 years experience, and some required 3-5. If there wasn't a training program you were out of luck. Reach out to Schneider as they say. They have the answers on the choice program. Some answers, like payments, wait until Monday morning. :)

I forgot to change my status. I've been with Schneider for a few months. Just looking for some details from somebody actually doing it instead odd someone trying to sell it to me.

^^ Think we could make it do wheelies?? LOL

Popped the hood on the truck today just to have a look at things before I head out tomorrow. Oil fill cap is missing. Good job, Freightliner, way to make me feel good about the service you performed on my truck. What out parts and pieces might I just find lying around?? This is why I _hate_ other people working on my stuff.

You can make the payments from your checking account if you want - its a one-off thing though, you'll have to get with your ICA each time you want to have this done. Or, your payment will just be deducted from your future paychecks (meaning that depending on how long you are down, you may have some $0 paychecks) until you "catch up" again.

I'm happy with it so far. My total payment is $1074/week including insurance, truck, plates, everything. You can still bring home a nice paycheck with this payment. In the future once I have some history I can show the bank that I have been making these payments to Schneider, I may see about getting a loan through them to finish paying off the truck, that would hopefully result in a much lower payment, but we'll see. Still a ways to go.

I run by home a lot. No problems there. Depends on you're area though as to if it'll be worth it or not $$$ wise. Nobody bothers me. Same "Schneider issues" still exist (finding empty trailers, support shift, etc).

I think they want a minimum of 6 months before you can apply for Choice. Have a look at what dedicated account options are available in your area - many of the dedicated drivers on here seem pretty happy, that might be the way to go in the meantime.

    Anyway, off to Freightliner...

Gotta spend money to make money. Trucks don't roll for free. Labor rates at shops are over $100/hour. Stuff wears, stuff breaks, and you better be ready for it when it does!! Even after I've finished purchasing the truck, I won't stop contributing to my own maintenance account (not Schneider's required one, which by the way any money in that account comes back to you when you end your lease, finish purchasing the truck, etc) until I have probably 30-35k in it. Big trucks cost big bucks.

Had to edit this because I realized I never answered your question, lol. Yes, it is weekly.

I'm taking my 30m break now, gonna either make just inside Ohio tonight or maybe stop in WV. Just gonna see how I feel. I got sent on a trailer search that only went 17 MILES!! from home and when I got there there were 2 (TWO!!) trailers to choose from. That seemed way to easy, lol. Then I headed to my pickup, easy 15m drop and hook and away I went.

    Grijon Thanks this.
