Is there any headlights out there that will bolt in & be stronger than the glass ones?? All our T800s & W900 & one Peterbilt take the same lights. If I could get one season out of a light & pay say $60 to $100 it would be worth the cash as rocks bust right through the glass. Is there such a thing??

    Thanks Justin.

Ran into the same problem with rocks breaking headlights back when I was in concrete construction field.
Rather than try for a stronger headlight material, what I did was fabricate 2 panels of lexan polycarbonate, drilled mounting holes, and fabricated lower hinges and upper "stand-off" mounts to mount the panels right in front of the headlights.

If you fabricate a lower hinged mount, it allows you to unfasten the upper mounts and swing them down for cleaning, should the headlights or back of lexan panels ever get "cruddy dirty".
Reason being, the closer you mount the lexan panels to the headlights, the more light is transmitted thru them, with less reflected light when the panels are dirty.

Here's a pic I dug up online of some similar "factory made" panels/rock guards.
Found two Australian sites that sell them, but they want over $225 for them. They can be made fairly easy and significantly less cost.

Seems atypical. Perhaps the problem is not the strength of the glass but habitual following way too closely.*

*Disclaimer: I had a new windshield not last to see 10th gear. As I was merging onto the interstate a grain hauling professional sharpened his skills by using my LF fender as a pylon and showered my rig with "aggregate".

I haul on gravel roads with other trucks it just happens I don't follow to close everyone has the same problem.

Thanks Cajun The cover idea would work I just would rather find a light with a better front glass system or plastic like the new trucks have as I don't have any problems with the new styles in our fleet.
