I'm located in SE Florida and am looking for a good trucking company to hopefully work for that would give me miles, well maintaned equipment, the usual positive work guidelines and regulations in the job description ... preferably regionally or dedicated runs ... and get me home on a regular basis ...

Feedback from you "pros" would be appreciated.

I have heard there is not much but produce coming out of Florida and you may have to deadhead to Geo. somewhere for a load out. Heard that from a couple different places, I have never been that far south and I won't run a refer, it's hard enough to sleep without that noise.

I live in Central, FL and provide a list in the Orlando area if that helps. I do know FFE, Roehl, Werner, Knight, American Eagle, and US Express all have terminals in FL. Hope this helps. If you are experienced, Raven based out of Jacksonville will hire based on 18 months OTR experience.

Add Crete to the list for their Deland Terminal. They will hire newbie's but I hear from other truck drivers it is rare or you must be in the top ten. Besides that, 6 moths- 1 otr is required.

Have you checked out Commercial Carrier Corp? I know they have a couple divisions and offer training. Haven't heard much on their reputation though.

I'm not a pro-driver, but you can add Willis Shaw, Pam, CTL, CRST, CFI and FFE to the list that recruit from Florida. I'm unsure if any of these qualify as "good", however. Crete doesn't recruit South of Orlando as of 2/14/2008. Roehl's not hiring from Florida as of 2/4/08.

Have you tried looking in the newspapers? I see quite a few ads even in the tiny publication from this area. Indian River Transport seems to get decent reviews. They're food grade tanker I believe, and would be on my top ten list if I had the experience and qualifications necessary to apply.

You might try Dillon Transport . I believe they just opened a terminal in West Palm last fall. Mostly regional work with bulk prducts like molten asphalt and roofing granules. A++ equipment,% pay, exelent 401k.

Dillon has top notch equipment for sure but you will not get home all the time with them if you drive a sleeper truck. I drove a sleeper truck for them for a couple of years and it depended. You can be home everyday with a sleeper but there will be times you will be out for a month or so. The pay is great. My pay range for a week varied from $800 - $1500 a week. It used to be a great company to work for but now they will fire you or write you up for any ######## reason. Other than that Dillon is a good company to work for. Loading and unloading is very easy and you run legal. I was based out of Savannah, GA terminal but I have ran for the Tampa terminal as well when they needed help. Nick is the Terminal manager in Tampa and he easy to get along with and will help drivers out.
