Truck came in with coolant in oil. Pulled valve covers off and this is what we found.

coolant pressure tested with oil pan dropped appears to show liner 4 leaking..

Here is liner 1 being popped off.

No room in shop as this is a back up truck and owner is in no hurry. Original Cummins inframe kit is here. Heads will get rebuilt locally.

What causes this pitting? The first pic of liner 4, is that a hole I see near the top? Keep posting I want to follow this. Thanks.Rocky64 Thanks this.

Liner pitting is caused by not properly treating coolant with additives that coat the liners. It keeps the exploding air bubbles from attacking the liner metal. That's how that works.

Finally got some free time to post pic of liner 4. It has a pin hole due to pitting and the piston was starting to get wore out .. I will upload pic of piston.

Correct. There is also a train of thought that the radiator needs to be grounded as well to eliminate the electrolysis.Rocky64 Thanks this.
