Make it shiny and throw in a couple fancy words; and a trucker somewhere will buy it.
Just look at drivers pushing propane into their engines.

Never really had much luck with mechanic in a can. Even if it does remove said sludge build up where does it go? Worse thing you can do when working on the top side only of a motor with build up is knock that crap loose to stop up a pick up tube or cooling nozzle. I realize the injectors will have a minor amount in the oil side I guess its the principle of it. Also I would think this is targeted more at HEUI engines that use high pressure eng oil to fire the injectors.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
came accross this when searching for stiction info: http://www.hotshotsecret.com/what-is-stiction/ The guys at Hot Shot's Secret seem to know more than anyone about it, since they were the "original" ?

Had a clp of old timers at a local shop swear that filling the fuel filters with ATF and letting it idle for 20 min or so will remove varnish from the injectors better than any of the 'treatments' and won't hurt anything.
Anyone know anything about this? -
I don't know if it's true but I've used ATF to fill fuel filters for forty years, I've always been told it helped to clean injectors/nozzles. I carry four or five quarts in the side box at all times, it's a lot neater and less mess, especially out on the road.

I just got my refund from them because it didn't do anything in my truck.

Yes it works. Preventative is always better than trying to heal after you notice the injury. But the ATF is one of the best deals you can do in my opinion.

Wasn't there a thread about using 2 cycle oil in diesel to clean the fuel system out?
-
I think the 2 stroke oil increases lubricity or the fuel, and some cite an increase in fuel mileage.

Lubricity is why I use Wal-Mart 2 cycle oil for my older Cat motor.
