Thanks Pete. Question for you, I read in one of your post, that you had some trouble getting hired in the trucking business and that TA was the company that gave you the opportunity. If you could work a another company, which one would you go to and why ? -
well I left TA after 19 months
many more opportunities open up with experience
old DUI's and a drug possession was my original problem
starter co like TA are good for exactly what they are a place to gain experience -

The King had two unusual and kind of neat things happen today. Yesterday one of the dispatchers at his company was a little snippy with him.... the King was royally "you know what" about it....mostly because it has never happened with this company before. This morning the dispatcher called and APOLOGIZED ....will wonders never cease! Everyone has bad days and I am sure this week has caused much stress within the trucking industry. It sure is nice to know that a good working relationship with the drivers is valued and important.
Then while he was waiting to be loaded at Pepsi he was out cleaning his mirrors, windshield, headlights, etc.. The safety director for this plant came out and asked if he was an O/O or company driver. Husband said he was company so the next question was "Then, why are you doing that ....cleaning mirrors, etc.?" The King is confused by this question, he tells them because it needed to be done... "But, what motivates you to do it? I can not get our company drivers to take care of their trucks and I am looking for answers to get them to do it." .... The King said it didn't matter if he owned the truck or not, it still made a living for his family and the better he treated it the better it would treat him. It was an interesting ....and kind of scary....conversation.oliver2, passport220 and kirk Thank this. -
A couple more side notes this evening. Today was the first time I had been out and about since this last winter storm. I 44 is in great shape but some of the state highways still have patches of ice ....I found one and took an unexpected ride. I guess I have to be nicer when I talk about my little jeep, we missed the tree and she groaned a little bit but dug her way out and back on the road. Missouri is supposed to have some freezing rain in the early morning hours and rain all day tomorrow with possible flooding on some of the roadways.
Also, after the talk about electric blankets I checked the prices at WalMart. The least expensive ones run anywhere from $20 to $30 depending on the size. They also have heated mattress covers .....they are more expensive and start at $60 for a full size.oliver2 and passport220 Thank this.
