1 week vacation, and a jacket. Not a carhart though, that's farther down the line. Just a windbreaker. The only way you get your goodies is to go to a terminal to get them though, except when you get up where the gift is money. So if you don't have a terminal nearby, you won't see them. I'm missing my 5 and 6 year gift, my gf couldn't pick them up for me when she was in SLC

I had a volvo once who would run all night if the temperature got low enough, I think 15. I found this out in Minnesota, when it was -18 out and it never shut off. I think the Internationals might do that if it's cold enough. We had a spell of 0-20 degree weather here in Oregon, so we set our opti idles, and the trucks ran as long as it was cold. I'm assuming they didn't shut off. I wasn't there, but we had 2 of them parked near a house that we were renovating, and everyone working in the house mentioned they never heard the trucks shut off.

I was actually curious about the optimized idle, glad someone was able to answer and give some information. I'm just trying to find out as much information before I leave for Fontana. I'm someone that prefers to be ahead of the game especially when it comes to hooking up with my trainer, whom ever that may be. I have no clue.

How have you liked your time at Central? Was it what you thought it'd be?

I had a '11 Prostar before i got into a '14 Cascadia. On a Prostar I would just turn on all accesories to drain batteries enough to where it shuts off all 12v cigarette plugs (it beeped for low voltage) Then I would start the truck and it would idle forever. This method doesent work on Cascadia. But at least I got a working bunk heater in it.

When I went to Central, they didn't make any promises, and they didn't break any promises. I've been here almost 7 years, so in the end, I'd say they're not a bad company. They're a starter company, so don't expect the world of them. I ended up in a local position a little over 2 years ago, so things have gotten better for me. I'm home almost every night (or day), I keep my truck at home, and my co-worker is a decent person. The flip side is that I'm a glorfied babysitter, so I get to jump the reefer that doesn't start, take the trailer with the damage to utility, and go fuel that trailer some driver didn't want to fuel. So it's a tradeoff.

Sounds like fun lol. At keast you're able to be home with your family and things. Im jot worried about being home. I understand its a starter company. I need a company like central so that I can get my cdl. I for sure arent expecting the world. I just gotta take it day at a time and hopefully ill get a good trainer. Thanks for the response and the information.

Take it a day at a time, and plan for a year of your time. It takes a year to adjust to the lifestyle, and the things that come with being a truck driver. After a year, you'll know if driving is for you or not.
