Awesome job. No bennies but still good. Till now.
Mom and pop operation. Seemingly good and God fearing people. Hand me the keys to full size double bunk rig pulling 53' dry. City work, home at night. Lots of tight spaces in city. Back in off street and then some everyday. Asked for daycab. Nope. Cut tire, scratched old raggedy trailer, then bumper and fender in about 6 mos. time.
Didn't sign anything saying I was responsible for damage. Now must sign something or be let go. After meeting went to dispatch and put in 2 weeks.
Anyone?
liked my job till now, any good lawers out there?....

I browsed around forum. Didn't see any religion columns. Believe this; I spoke to our lord today and asked him what this sinner should do next.
As I have in the past.Puppage Thanks this. -
Wait, why do you need a lawyer? Because they wanted you to sign something?
-
Sorry, just wanted some looks. So far no need. Not sure 'bout this coming week.
They cut me deep. Real deep. -
Just to clarify;
Was told would have to pay part of damage. Then sign letter for full responsibility there after. No warning after tire or trailer that I would be in this predic. Or be let go.
No warning is my beef. Like I said fun time is over. Liked the job but something is awry.Meltom Thanks this. -

There are many "perfect" drivers that will take you apart on here. I'm not one of them.
Your employer should send the proper speced truck for the job, rather than expect you to be a miracle worker. A 70' long haul rig is not designed for daily p&d work. That's what day cabs and pup trailers are for.
I wouldn't sign any paper putting all the risk and responsibility on me unless they also allow me say in specing the equipment and make me an equal partner in ownership of the business. Business owners have that risk, so they get a greater share of the reward. Sounds like your employer wants you to shoulder most of the risk while they keep the reward attached to that risk.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 12, 2014

Thanks
I appreciate the sentiment. Figured I would take a beat down. Just wondered what everyone else thought.
Got my ticket back in '93. Worked alot of dirty jobs since then.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I now where I stand and what the deal is. Most OTR drivers won't have to worry 'bout logs or fuel mileage and such.
It will be programmed into your life by your company. I put my mistakes out there for all to see. Scuffs bumps and bruises.
Good or bad I take the Plus with the minus.
Good evening all. Or morning.
Roll'in stillfr8te_sh8ker, full speed and AfterShock Thank this. -
My advice would be to forget the lawyer and secure another job before your notice is up just in case.
Chinatown, Jimmeyjack and roll'in Thank this.
