If you really look at our industry California has been the test bed for everything that has happened to us. Remember Banning in the 70's? Notice how every port is setting up to inspect trucks for profit? The truth is we do this to ourselves by not having the sack to tell them no we won't be doing that! Let's face it we are being controlled by a ton of government agencies that don't have a clue what they are doing. I would say the over all foot print of this clean air mess is actually worse on the environment when you look at the pollution involved in the production of all the trucks to replace the old ones and the pollution involved in making the extra fuel they are burning. The disposal of oils that are full of soot or these DPF filter deals all this stuff still goes somewhere.
As for how do they clear the ports question. That's easy you just go around them. Up till six months ago my old KW had not cleared a port in 4 years. They don't inspect what they don't see.

I agree, although the big mega carriers where going to all buy new trucks sooner or later there are a ton of us little guys that bent over backwards to comply because "we were told" it was not only the right thing to do, but it was the ONLY thing to do.
Somebody owes us MORE than just an explanation, if any one hears of a class action suite, let me know, I would be all in, whether they know it or not CARB has GREATLY affected a good many peoples lives, most of it negatively. -
Finally the OOIDA has gotten off their butts and filed a suit to do something. But class action suit? so you want your $50 and give all the lawyers millions? -
It just might make government agency like CARB think twice before pulling this #### again. But after all, we know that even if you would win, you are only using your own money (taxes) to pay yourself back.
I think Monday is going to be a good day to call CARB an extract my "pound of flesh" I know in the big picture it won't matter, but I will feel better. -

Well I guess I have a lot to say. First of all, I would love to buy a Fitzgerald kit, register it in Nevada, because I will move my business there,as a '14 and just see how long it takes CA to figure it out. Banning has been inspecting like crazy but no smoke testers. PDI does have a DPF delete system but to my knowledge you cant switch it on and off. I think that CARB had no clue of the economic impact when they rolled this program out. They were looking for something to do to keep their overpaid jobs. They have stirred up a hornets nest for sure. Lets just be honest the CA registered trucks are screwed for sure. They just wont register anything older than 08 unless you have CARB certificates. WhereI think they are going to run into a problem is impeading interstate freight. I honestly think that is where OOIDA will beat them in court. However I do see out of state trucks being smoke tested at the POE and scale houses
