every company has their share of idiots on the road, you tend to see more Swift because its such a large company and there are so many trucks on the road compared to any other company. I have met several who have several years. Met another last night who just celebrated his 20th year with Swift and he is on my dedicated fleet for 8 years of it. So Ivy have you never made a mistake since you began driving? Havent ever gone down the wrong route etc?
Is swift a good company?

With Ivy's new thread Swift bashing and his unusual venom for Swift and my abilities to earn money playing poker it ain't hard to read the situation. Methinks there's a good chance he washed out at Swift. I raise...
scottied67 Thanks this. -
kinda funny too. since i been with swift. i"ve never seen a swift truck pulled over by a cop. always those supertruckers lol
-
i dont pay too much attn to these bashers anyways. most dont work for the company or they just couldnt cut it and blame others
-
And our trucks are maintained pretty well, as long as the driver will make sure to get things fixed as they break.
Most of Swift's problems are caused by new drivers that make stupid decisions. -
Can someone fill me in about SWIFT's training program? Pay during OTR training and pay after getting to your own truck. Can't seem to find anything online.

during 240 hrs with mentor, you'll get your states minimum wage plus one dollar for driving, minmum wage for on duty not driving. i think you start at .27 cpm once you go solo.

Man I was making money bags when I was training 12/13 hour days a week 6 days week. Then I went solo after 3 1/2 weeks after the first week I called my mentor asking if I could be his student indefinitely haha.

Swift has more than 14,000 trucks on the road so obviously the percentage of incidents compared to other trucking companies is going to be higher. It's all a numbers game. Overall though I don't really see that many Swift drivers doing stupid or reckless things. I'm not saying that Swift drivers don't do it I just don't see it that much. I see more stupidity coming from smaller independent trucking firms. My only explanation for this is that Swift has structure. Yes, there are tons of new Swift drivers but there is also structure, consequences, guidelines and review for everything we do.
I'm pretty happy with Swift. There are times that I get pissed off and curse them but some of those times are just because the business is just the way it is. Other times I'm just cranky.
With no other reference point, Swift is my first CDL driving job I do know this: Swift has freight most of the time. I don't always have to get live loaded - there are a lot of drop and hooks. IF my truck breaks, they fix it for the most part. If I need another truck I only need to call a terminal and see what they got. With the right driver manager, I've always got paid when they said they would pay me including layover pay, breakdown pay, detention pay etc.
Ive come across a few Swift drivers that left the company, went to another only to come back to Swift. Don't be a liability to the company and they will look out for you.Moosetek13 Thanks this.
