Got it all behind me last week... Praise the Lord.. My pretrip went well, there is a good video on U Tube if you search Heavy Metal truck training Pre-Trip in you tube it will pop..Its actually a lot of over kill but so is the pre test. I did well but forgot to mention that I would check the Tire Pressure and Valve stems.. He hit me hard for that, but passed me. I agree with the touch everything method, I also took the time to physically cross everything off of the cheat sheet as I went. One by one, it slowed things down a bit, but that was a good thing as it calmed me and made me stay right on task
Best of Luck

I passed it the first time and failed the road. 80% from my little trucking school failed the 1st time on per trip. Luv Illinois.

our instructors gave us cheat sheets to develop a habit. after the 3rd day we werent allowed to use them.
fwiw, i got 99/101 on my first pre-trip but failed my backing so i had to re-test 3 days later. 2nd time I got 103/103 and passed all my tests.
its not hard, just practice and you will get it. -
I passed it on the first time but still failed on the cdl driving part, went back failed on pretrip by 3 points only because I didn't do the last rim , lug nuts, hubseal on the last axle of the trailer then went back and passed it with a 99 but failed on the alley dock by 2 feet I was gonna give up but I'm gonna keep trying

Don't give up Bossdogg, i gave up something years ago and still regret it and swore to my self to never give up again, you are going to pass next time and all this thing of failing will be in the past good luck
Bossdogg12 Thanks this. -

Going slow and taking your time is the key--A pre trip is a weed out process---I do not care WHO you are depending on how you do it and who is checking--NO one can pass one......
having said that---RELAX---
By the time you are ready to test for your license---YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS--you've done it time and time again---the only difference this time--is somebody w/a clipboard is following you around--SO WHAT--your still in charge--and you're not gonna go anywhere until YOU are satisfyed the thing is good to go....
SO keep that mindset--act like it is any other day--and go about YOUR business
Its all in your head--and YOU"RE in control
