I don't think your understanding my post. I have never asked anybody to tell me what I should do with my current truck. I'm putting another driver in it so I can continue making revenue off of it. ALL I WAS ASKING is the BEST set up for a new glider truck. I have never had a 12.7 Detroit and not sure on the gearing for the rears.

From what I understood that any motor work could be warranted by any authorized Detroit shop, I know a guy that got one almost two years ago truck now has 168,000 miles without any problems put steer tires on said it was burning oil at first but 100,k miles it slowed down he pulls tanker and is doing 6.5mpg loaded 90% of the timeTXTRUCKER1125 Thanks this.

Bought a 06 columbia with a 14.0l det 10sp and 3.55 rear ends. waited till egr crapped out and bullydogged it. runs like a raped ape and boosted my MPG 1.2 . I would take it anywhere in the US at 80,000 and not have a worry. ( Yes I have been to many of them including wolf creek pass and 4th of july)

I have a Fitz glider. Only had it since May so can't tell a whole lot about it yet with only 70k on it. But it does burn about a gallon of oil between oil changes since I've had it. I had one warranty issue, needed a rear cam cover gasket replaced. Took it to my local shade tree mechanic, he faxed them a invoice, they faxed him a Comcheck # to do the work. Easy as can be.
When I buy another truck I will be going back to Fitzgerald, unless something really changes in the future. Love the looks the motor gets when I raise the hood at the fuel islands. I hear so many stories about DPF/EGR motors. I tell all them you don't have to tell me I had my own that's why I have a glider now.TXTRUCKER1125 and Cetane+ Thank this. -

congratulations on your new glider. please keep us updated on how everything goes with it. that's kind of nice where you can use your own mechanic. Freightliner is usually slammed with warranty work. everytime I call the dealer over here in Dallas they want to keep it for 3 to 4 days minimum. I might have to look into their gliders again. thank you very much for that information!!
I was also reading that its normal for a Detroit to burn one gallon of oil between oil changes.

They have the same attitude at Fitz that I do. Why pay a dealer an absurd hourly rate when you can get it done much faster and much cheaper with people you trust. That doesn't mean that you can't get work done at a dealer but it's nice to now I can just drop it off at my guys place and let him do it.
