Forgot to quote my last post but thanx, so hows the grave yard shift going, worked those in the past, takes some time getting use to it. My last one was 3 months long April to June, start at 5pm till 2:30 am, sucked but the money was good.

I love the nights so much
.
They are so relaxing no rush bs to deal with -
That i can relate to, as with most jobs on 2nd or 3rd shift it"s a little less stress as most of the suit"s are home sleeping, not as many eyes on you or looking over your shoulder, but with that comes your internal clock all screwed up, an no life, well actually the job becomes your life, but if the money is rite it offsets that.

Gonna make that phone call today to find out if i"m gonna be on that list. Only 6 days left till they start the class, fingers crossed.

I also spent over 25 years at a job and lost it do to the economy. I picked up funding for my training at a reputable school from the WIC program, that I believe is a state program, and the qualifications were about the same, except you had to be on unemployment as well. I also had to spend about 2 full days doing research on the net as far as the industry goes and what is the needs and payscales etc. And then another day or 2 filling forms and getting interviewed.
I sincerely hope and will work my ### off to be one of the (according to your numbers) 10% that makes it. I have been in the work force for over 40 years, and have never been on unemployment, or taken any government subsidies. I am college educated (all paid for by my self). I agree there is a lot of waste in (understatement) the government social programs. However paying to train people seems like a fairly good investment, in the long run. At least the governement gets some of its investment back in the form of payroll taxes.
I also agree there is companies that churn new drivers and that is their plan for making money, I have read about many of them. So once you get your funding, and complete your training, the most research you should do is who to go to work for. There are plenty of opportunities out there. At least try and make an educated decision on who to work for.
Lastly I now have my CDL, and most of my endorsements. Barring any curve balls like accidents or health issues or some unforeseen incident, I now am confident that I have the skills and trainning to work the rest of my life in this industry, in one way or the other and make a good living, I am hoping this insures that I will not end up frying up potatoes at some fast food restaurant.
Thats also why we are calling this my SEMI retirement
Good luck Newbie!! -
