I lost mines years ago, after that I park in well guarded areas or storage if I'm going about for a few days or more
blairandgretchen and kubball Thank this. -
I think it is all about caring for the tools that makes you money. Too many steering wheel holders out there anymore. No pride in their craft. Most are looking for shortcuts, they want it all, but unwilling to do what it takes to do it right.
Dadetrucking305 Thanks this. -
I had mine in the vault and side boxes, never on the trailer, unless I was making a quick run from a consignee to the next load and I knew I needed them.
Davidlee, baha and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Side boxes between the spread. I take pride in having a totally empty deck. It's more professional appearing IMHO.
If I have to wash a tarp (very rare) I spread it out on my lawn and use a long handled truck was brush and soapy water. Eventually a good rain storm cleans them but for mud, oil/grease or heavy salt I wash them to keep myself clean when handling them. -
Depends. When I did run OTR, we were subject to having to switch trailers fairly frequently. The flats had side boxes, which we didn't have keys for, so I bought a length of chain from Tractor supply to where I could wrap it around the box both ways, and secured that with a padlock, and I'd do the same if the tarps were on the tarp rack above the headache rack. Binders.. they could be locked in place on the headache rack, but as an added measure (and also because a lot of them had the paint flaking off), I got some hot pink spray enamel and painted them and the hook chains that color... other drivers (and the boss man, at times when he had to drive the truck) hated it if they ever had to get additional binders from me, but it didn't bother me one bit. If someone tried implying something about my sexuality based on the color of my binders (which is pretty predictable... sometimes I think references to homosexuality and Swift jokes are the only insults road drivers ever learn in their lifetime), I'm the sort of person who'd take it three times around the dance floor, and I'm quite secure.
Other than that, I never strayed far away from my truck.macavoy, 281ric and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
I have to keep mine up on my deck. No side box on my wagon. Keep a chain and pad lock on them.

Rack on top of the headache rack

I don't carry tarps anymore, but when I did I kept them in my headache rack and in the side boxes between the spread.

I keep mine strapped, chained, and padlocked to the deck.
