I am going to school soon for my cdl and am currently looking at us xpress and have couple questions. What trucks are you currently using? I see makes on website but not models. Where can you park the truck when on hometime? Also what does us xpress allow to be placed in the trucks for amenities? thank you in advance.

I have seen Freightliner Cascadias and Peterbilt 387's both midroof and condos as well as Volvo 780's. As far as installing aftermarket equipment you need to check with the shop at terminal where you pick up your truck or just call their recruiting and ask them what they will allow. Not many companies allow drivers to install electronics in their company trucks unless their shop does it and in some cases they may charge you to install the items. Thats best way, so if truck catches on fire because a power inverter wasn't installed properly or anything else its on them.
dano86 Thanks this. -
New & older Freightliner Cascadias & older Peterbilt 387s. Teams get the newer trucks. They have been buying some auto Cascadias. No Volvos in our fleet. Very few Kenworth. The Kenworth have just enough room for a solo driver. They do have International ProStars but their getting rid of them. The 387 in the fleet is a mix of auto & stick. I would suggest a Cascadia because the interior is better than a 387.
They allow an invertor up to 1,700 watt that the shop installs for free. -
I wouldn't install anything else just in case something happen because you don't want to get blame for a truck fire because of an improper installation, otherwise they have nice trucks speed governor 65mph nd i hope you good at yelling at dispatchers head to give you load, good luck with them.

Only thing I would carry in the truck is a tv small cooler and maybe George forman. Ive heard some companies only allow you to carry only a fridge in the trucks. thanks for the info.

Sounds pretty good, who gets assigned the Peterbilt 587 midroof's they have? Do they let you bobtail home at all there?

When I drove for them (2006-2010) they had a terminal in Lexington NC which I believe they've closed down but still use it as drop yard, I would drop trailer there and I would BT home to Pilot Mtn. I had a 1500 watt power invertor and had a dorm sized fridge with a freezer, microwave and TV. I also kept a George Foreman grill and a crock pot.

I'll be living in the Bristol, TN area, the closest drop yard/terminal that I can tell is the one in Loudon, TN and that's a Total Transportation terminal according to USX's website. That's over two hours away, don't know if they'd be okay with bobtailing that long of a distance.

Where did you find the 1700 watt inverter to purchase? I've been looking and have only found 2000 watt and above and 1500 watt and below.
