Little breezy today. Was following a van trailer our east of Camrose today, he was earning his pay keeping that thing on the road.

Crane anemometer was reading 50mph sustained and frequent 70+ gusts

Hi everyone, Im new to the board read lots of this thread and im gonna book a flight out to Nisku pretty quick to get some face to face contacts.
Im green to the oil industry but not to driving. it seems to me that the rental companies may be the best place to " break in". Im certainly looking for a camp position as I own a home and have a young family on Van Isle. I have the ability to operate excavators. loaders and rubber tire backhoes. I plan on renting a car and driving through to GP making stops along the way.
I would sure like to hear peoples input on my thoughts and about any companies that may be a fit for me, Am I right in thinking that a minimum day wage for something like this would be around $400? and rotations to be 21/7? Do these types of places pay for your flights/liveout?
thanks in advance, all advice is greatly appreciated.

    54,
If you're looking for fly in/out heavy equipment jobs, I'd look at Fort Mac more than anywhere else. Check companies like clean harbors or the bouchier group.

If you want to stay in camp, get a hold of Voice Construction or North American Energy group. Also Peter Kiewit Cosntruction.

yes flight expenses would be a big bonus, it seemed like I wouldn't have enough experience for clean harbors according to there website anyway.
Ill look up the other one, im not an operator but I do have 300 hours or so on different pieces of equipment respectively.
