So, now can you repost your original thoughts, as bad as you thought they were? This is not a bad thread at all, brother.

I'd never buy a truck based on the thought of it coming with a warranty. In most cases it's not worth the paper it's on, in fact I have a good friend of mine went thru the same ordeal, He paid extra for the because of the warranty first problem he had was a injector yes they warranted the injector but wouldn't cover the injector nozzle, plug or valve cover gasket he was forced into paying parts and the cost of changing just them parts even though you must take the valve cover off to change injector they charged him that labor.
Unless cat did a rebuild cat won't warranty that motor and no after market warranty will help you as much as you think. It's buyer beware I see your already about to make the number one mistake most people make feeling like what your doing is the only way to move forward. The next mistake your doing is rushing into buying a truck slow down you just found this truck you haven't done a dyno and I'm not even sure you've drove the truck. There are more finance companies than just the one that you're going through if you have good solid five months of running with good income your options should be wider.daf105paccar, milskired and rollin coal Thank this. -
Yeah aftermarket warranties are good for wiping your rear end with. That should really be something to help negotiate price down imo. Don't pay extra for a sales gimmick especially don't add more months or years to it. With used equipment the only warranty you can count on is your hip pocket.
BAYOU Thanks this. -
The OP should withhold paying that incompetent dealership for throwing parts at something they clearly don't understand. I'd find an ace engine shop to get it running, then sell that sucker fast. He can go work for a small fleet owner doi g the same type work in the meantime to keep cash coming in. As far as credit worries, forget about it! Credit is not the way forward. Paying CASH is the way FORWARD! People can snicker that I don't live in a $300000 house, drive a $70000 car, or act rich in other ways. I could care less what those posers think. Having one's feet firmly planted on solid ground, financially speaking, is what endures and eventually brings nice things to bear, if this economy will allow it.rank, 281ric and BORNtoROAM Thank this. -
what works for one may not work for another, . It seems in his situation, he has nothing left to lose in this deal. if he were having to sink in what little cash reserves he had left, it might be well to walk away.
it seems he is already tapped out, if this new truck truck doesn't work out , then he can walk away.
when I sold out of the modular business and needed a road tractor, I wasn't going to risk any money I already had made and saved. when I hit the road again solo it was to make it stand on its own. I took 5 grand out of savings, put 3400 down, paid for couple of dynos and inspections and down payment on phys. damage. hit the road, leased on and it has stood on its own for 38 months now, paid off trl , in nov, apu this month, and truck in march.
if it hadn't stood on its own, I would have folded shop and not risked any more than the original 5 grand. but then I had done this before , it wasn't my first time. in todays world, its much more difficult than years ago. in the days before deregulation and high fuel, some folks made it that weren't good businessman.
lucar, I am pulling for ya. hope it turns around. keep plugging away.Cetane+, RedForeman, 281ric and 3 others Thank this. -
Let me clarify something I mentioned. Your credit score will go down at 1st but companies will contact you anyway to offer you credit and they will do this quite a bit so be prepared to be annoyed then over time as you work at rebuilding your credit over time you will have better numbers of course the BK will still be there but it won't stop you from accessing credit because they know you will not be able to file another BK for 7 years.
Yes I know its scary but really its not as bad as it seems. Good luck with your situation.rank Thanks this. -
Unit might have a lot of pto time on it..... Should show up in the ECM printout. Something to look out for. -
so I pulled out....
after spending another day at the dealer where I'm trading in around 2 pm today; financing company calls me and tells me I need a co-signer.. smh.. I said ok, we've gone too far, I'm taking my truck and I'm going back to work until it breaks down and I have to call you to come pick it up - period.
I was adviced not to call them again for help, I said I had not been helped at all but instead dragged over a deal that was never concrete and if i'd taken my truck since friday and gone to work i'd made at least a couple of grand by now, but instead I was driving my car back and forth from home to the dealer 40 miles each way and sitting there the whole day friday, saturday, monday and today for them to drag me this far and tell me I need a co-signer now.
I'll take my chances with my POS, I'm already hooked with a load as of late afternoon today headed to denver with good money in it.pearcetrucking, Cetane+ and RedForeman Thank this. -
Just keep plugging away with what you have, and the next time it gives you some trouble take it to a Cat dealer, not a KW, PB, etc.
