I understand that each company is different and has different rules, but I was wondering what not-so-obvious rookie mistake (other than causing a major accident, blowing up the truck, etc.) will get you fired. Any ideas/pointers?

I would imagine getting any reckless driving ticket such as following too close or txting or 15 mph over would be grounds for getting fired. Maybe also going too far out of route all the time if the company has a routing they want you to follow. also if they tell you were to fuel and you just fuel where ever you feel like I'm sure after a few times of being told not too they would fire you for it.

where I work now the trucks used to have to exit the yard by driving right past the owners office and he has nice big windows looking out and a guy got all the way through the yard, got to the windows and then the reefer he was pulling fell off the truck lol. possibly the worse place to ever drop a trailer

blowing up a truck is probably considered an act of terrorism, least of your worries would be losing a job.

Most of the large training companies will fire you for u-turns. Consistently being late will get you fired. I've seen drivers get in fist-fights with loading dock workers, I'd imagine that would get you fired. Swearing at your DM or shipper/consignee employees could possibly get you fired.

Basically, if you do your job and act professionally, you have nothing to worry about.

A driver at my company recently got fired for taking out the fence around our yard. Cut the corner too short and instead of stopping he just powered through it. Then instead of waiting for a spotter he backed out into the road. That's a big no no with my boss.
