Frustration comes from the lack of Control. There are so many things in this industry that we have no say in. Which is why I belong to OOIDA and wish I was in the Teamsters Union.

As a driver, I know the problems of the industry from a Drivers viewpoint. Long hours, aching muscles, having to worry about being fired for things that are beyond our control. We imagine someone at the company has a handle on everything but we have never meet the person. We have dispatchers who CYA as soon as something goes wrong. The mechanical folks blame the drivers for breakdowns and we blame the mechanics. Lease Purchases should be straight forward but they seem to be written as a one sided deal that gives everything to the company and no shared pain. Each and everyone of us feels like we are in this fight alone. Anytime a rule is changed things get worst. 30 minute break when you are not sleepy is mandatory? After 30 minutes I for one am just starting to get sleepy. DAC and all the other reports are whipping post so that your career can end just on rumors.

We feel helpless to control our own Destiny. No job security. No retirement. Newbies and folks crossing the boarder keep the wages low. Funny how fuel cost are passed on so easier but labor cost have to go down. How about a labor surcharge of 60 cents per mile?

But then, I have met some of the greatest folks in the world and all in all, I still enjoy the life.

Closed??? They are tearing down rest areas in Nebraska. For a while you could still park there but now they are ripping up the asphalt and concrete.

The entertaining questions on trucking forum's. Especially the wannabe's and newbies who think a 15,000 dollar truck and a lease deal will have them rubbing shoulders with the Trump's and the Hilton's in a few months flat.

Dealing with traffic in tight quarters. Especially fun with oversize loads.

I'm not sure the guys I'm talking about would even find themselves in a truck stop buffet. I'll have to include myself in that equation as well.
