Yes, at first. Then you basically go back through truck school, then hit the road and get trained THEIR way for everything.

I'm sure that there are pros and cons to that, as well. I'm looking at going to a private trucking school, near me, for the sake of less BS dealing with transferring my CDL over.

You cant learn how to drive a truck without getting in a truck.

I think the reason you don't see more trip planning resources online is because someone could tell you about certain things until both you and they were blue in the face, and the trainee still wouldn't understand. Some things are just learned better on-the-job, at least for me it worked out better that way.

The Qualcomm is what it is. Every company does things differently... some don't even use Qualcomm, but use another device and software. Plus if you work for an OTR company with e-logs they will all have different macro's for different things. So not really an easy way to learn that online as there are too many variables.

I am totally aware of this Richter, I am just talking about any video's that someone has put together just to show basic stuff.

I found those J J Keller video's to be helpful and entertaining. Not being a trucker, I also found a few video's on Qualcom and trip planning. Easy for someone who has done it but for us that have not it is just one more thing out of the way. I know it will all be explained during orientation and I am sure easy to understand but like I say I have a lot of free time . :)

I'm not a trucker yet but one thing I believe will help me when I do become one is watching CDL life videos on Facebook every morning. They are usually truck accidents. It really makes you think about how dangerous it is out on the roads.
