Ok I hope no one minds me trolling around here now and again, but here's one for you.
I leave a shipper and head to the nearest scale as. I am leaving I can tell I'm heavy. We get to the scale and we are 79100. 12180 on the steers {full fuel and 500 to the nearest wiegh station) 31080 on the drives and 35840 on the tandums problem I am heading to CA and tandums are already at 40. Back to the shipper rearrainged the load and moved 300 off the tandums on to the drives, now they are going to pull one of the back pallettes off. The good news running back and forth to the scales I have burn 20 pounds off me drives. :p

The problem was the tandems, so the fuel was a non-issue. I've never had a shipper ask my fuel level when the problem is the tandems.

When I came back I showed them my weigh ticket from the cat scale (about 2 miles away) and they saw I was 120 over on my steers, that's when I told them don't worry I am full fuel I will burn that off before the first weigh station 500+ miles away.

12120 on the steers is legal in most states if you have the axle and tires for it.
