Do Load Shifts go on your DAC report?

I just had a load shift yesterday. The bottom bundle on a stack of bundles was on top of a pallet that it was already hanging slightly off of, and slipped off the pallet, causing all the bundles above it to slide with it off the side of the deck, and then pull neighboring bundles sideways..... it's a big mess. The only fix now will be to get a forklift out here to restack them. (It's too tall to move by attaching straps and pulling sideways..... which might hurt the freight anyway at this point.) I managed to get to a Walmart, so I'm safe where I'm at.

Fortunately the straps held and nothing actually fell off the deck. And the freight doesn't look badly damaged. It was roofing metal, and I think there will be some dents from places where they pressed down on each other, but nothing's twisted or obviously smashed. If the forklift gets out here today, I'll even make timely delivery.

But now I have a serious question on my mind: what's this going to do to my DAC? If I were an owner operator I think I could keep it quiet. I'd be out a lot of money hiring a forklift to come out here, but nobody would put it on my record. Unfortunately I am a company driver.

IDK about your DAC or who you work for, but I had a buddy who had a load of ISO board move on him in 70+ mph winds, and Melton dang sure wouldn't rehire him over it. I'd just ask your dispatcher what kind effect it will have.

I already reported the problem to my company, so it's too late to hire my own forklift. Might as well let them pay for it if it's going on my DAC anyway.

To be honest, I don't really want to keep working here anyway. So the question of whether they'll rehire me doesn't really matter to me that much. But if it goes on my DAC ...... that might hurt my prospect of getting hired somewhere else.

Supposing I later on manage to become an owner operator, does your DAC follow you when you're an owner operator also?

Someone please explain what a DAC report is. I've heard it talked about alot I'm just not sure who sees it or how you get something on it.

    Improper load securement.

Not trying to be a buster, just trying to help you for future reference, because I want to see all of us doing well and making money (the better everyone does, the less likely we are to pull cheap freight)

If a load shifts, that's improper load securement. In our neck of the woods, it's the worst thing this side of a DUI...IF you received a citation. But you didn't. Kudos to you. I don't know if this will hit your DAC, I would think that you may just get hit with a cargo claim. Everyone's been where you are at now. Next time, if you can fix it yourself, you fix it yourself. Know what I mean?

    Luck in battle, trucker.

I think I'm going to have more of these if I stay on. They run us pretty deep into our clocks. I shouldn't have been in a hurry yesterday. Should have thrown a gut wrap, at least on the front (where it was possible to get it.) Should have been more careful around the corners not to go too fast and generate G forces.

I was trying to cram 49 more miles into this week before I took a 34, but only had about 52 minutes to get to the truck stop where I wanted to be at. So I think I ran too fast, with too much wind. Now of course I wish I'd just let those 52 minutes go. Maybe I'd still have gotten a load shift, but it would be after the weekend.

DAC is filled out by the employer your leaving, it they participate (pay) for the service, which if they do, they're likely to put something on there as they'd get a credit (money back) for doing so. It's really just a series of check boxes and accident (I'm pretty sure) is on there. They would have the option to muddy up your record, the credit isn't based on how many boxes you check) It's very vague and only an internal company record for those who use it (pay for the service) to look at.
