I have been doing some research on joining primes apprenticeship program, however I am concerned that there will hardly ever be loads in my area to get home for when i request it. Can anyone give me any insight as to how they are to work for in the northeast as a company driver. Any input would be greatly appreicated. Thanks ahead of time!

Why would you have trouble getting freight to and from Maine? Lots of businesses, distribution centers, factories, manufacturers, mills, plants, restaurants, retail stores, shops, and warehouses are located in Maine.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Prime has a LOT of freight going to and from Maine. Enough that you'll probably see home more than the average Prime driver.

It seems to me that since the majority of drivers avoid New England as much as possible, a driver from that area would have a good chance of getting home more. I know i would like to have a driver from there if I ran my trucks in the area, so I could send him home instead of taking the really cheap load just to get him out of there.
There are a lot of companies that pay a premium to drivers that are willing to run the north east. Once you get experience, if things aren't working out with Prime, you can always switch to one of those companies. But, having run LTL refrigerated in the north east for many years, I think you should have no problem getting home with Prime.

Primeinc has a dedicated account out of Lewiston Maine. They have regional accounts in the area. The training at Prime is good and is a good company to work for.

so far i think prime would be best for me, because they have the apprenticeship training, and because they do have routes in this area. which i have noticed alot of companys dont come to my area. i have looked into cr england when i first thought about becoming a driver, i have heard TOO many bad things about them. im going to meet with a career center counsler today to see if i can still keep my unemployment while in the training where i wont be making money before i get my cdl. i just lost my job 2 weeks ago after 4 years due to the economy
