You have to get the experience in first, then choose your path. inexperienced drivers like us will not make more than .32 to .38 pm for atleast 6 months.

The position I qualified for in my area will average 128k miles a year making .38 pm after 1 year. I can be happy with that starting out.

He's from Philly he starts these threads every few days. He doesn't want to leave philly. He wants to drive a straight truck, and he thinks because he has a class A licence somehow they are going to give him higher pay.

Some LTL carriers are hiring new drivers. I think ABF and Conway Freight both take students in certain areas. It certainly doesn't hurt to check them out either.

now why you gotta go and be all ignorant? Just cause you were...uh...lets just say, just cause you went over th eroad for 35-40k a year doesnt mean everyone wants to. Why not get two Class C driving jobs and work 16 hours a day at 2 jobs instead of one OTR for 14 hours a day in a big dangerous rig for the same pay. Ones easier, safer, and gets you home every night with weekends off, while the other has you in danger and out for 21 days at a time living out of a 8X5 truck!

Are you willing to run 14-16 hours a day, for 5 1/2 days, followed by a quick reset and then back at it again? Are you cool with running all night long and then taking a quick 10-hour break during the day? Are you willing to run illegal if your dispatcher pushed you to do so? Get ready pal, because the first 2-3 years is likely to be a tough ride... but it can be done!

Really comes down to what Im being paid to be honest.

Im not gonna go over the road for 16 hour work days when I can just get 2 jobs and be home every night for the same pay!
