The truck I got has 243k miles on it. It had the problem of the engine "running away", revving real high and smoking like crazy until it shut down completely. So bad the someone called the fire department thinking it was on fire. It stayed at International for a while getting all the issues fixed. Seems to run pretty good now. And yes it has the Eaton Fuller transmission! Night and day difference.

I have not heard from the terminal today so far as to when they will have a load for me. Not sure how big of a hurry I am to get back out with everyone getting hammered with snow up north. I will gladly take a dedicated load down to Miami though :) hint hint dispatch!

Sounds like the DPF system screwing up. I have heard the filter has to be cleaned every 250K or so. If it starts using coolant the EGR cooler went bad on mine at 160K or so. I am at about 170K now. 10K without a check engine light (knock on wood).

So if I start having to add coolant on a regular basis even though I don't see a leak or puddle on the ground, more than likely this would be the problem? Did you have any kind of light come on the dash other than the check engine light?

Exactly. Mine was using about a gallon a week. One day the yellow check engine light came on. When they checked the code it was "repairing itself". Shop told me to carry extra coolant and that it would gradually use more. The cleared the code and the light stayed off for 4 days and came back on. I was taking some time off so they put it in the dealership to fix it then. I saw one written up that was using a gallon every 2 days that went in at the same time. I could have gone longer with it.

I will make sure I keep an extra good watch on it then and carry plenty of extra anti-freeze just in case. Hopefully I won't have to deal with this any time soon. Thanks for the info.

Looks like I will be doing a dedicated run out and back for Thursday/Friday so I assume I will be off for the weekend. That is cool. I sure hope it warms up some by then. I want to work on my Jeep some. Sick of this cold weather. Come on Spring, I am ready for you.

Well I did not get to work on the Jeep as I would have liked but I did get some extra miles in this past Sunday. After delivering my dedicated load, I got a dispatch for Sunday picking up in Winder and delivering in Greensboro NC the same day. Got that delivered Sunday afternoon and got a load out of Reidsville NC going back to Georgia in Calhoun. Got that delivered this morning at 7am and was able to get back to the tank wash then Winder before traffic became a holy nightmare.

We had some snow and sleet hit the Atlanta area around 12 noon today and I guess everyone thought it was time to play bumper cars. I heard on the radio news by the time I got back to Winder that traffic was pretty well done. Thank goodness I was able to come home for the rest of the day.

Pick up another dedicated load tomorrow for Thursday delivery in Indiana. Hope to work Friday local if they have something for me. If not I should have off Friday-Sunday. Told dispatch I wanted to be home to watch the Superbowl if possible. Looks like it should happen. Maybe I can get some work done on the Jeep :)

You managed to get finished ahead of the storm. I was coming up 85 out of Montgomery and wound up shutting down at the Loves in Hogansville around 10 am. The bridges were solid ice when I shut down and each one had a 4 wheeler wrecked on it. Hopefully they will salt overnight and I can ease through Atlanta after rush hour in the morning.

My sister lives in Dallas, off of exit 26 on 20 iirc, and works near the airport. It took her 7 hrs to get home today. Kids are sleeping in schools tonight. The ga dept. Of transportation should be ashamed of the way they handled this. Especially after buying salt spreaders, plows, and setting up salt barns around atlanta after the 2011 debacle. If I were the governor, I'd expect some resignations on my desk in the am.

I have been talking to a friend on facebook who has been stuck in traffic on 285 for 10 hours and counting. I am still sitting at the truck stop in Hogansville. No sense heading into that with 11 hours left on my 70.
