I do not know a thing about First Fleet, but have a friend who applied, got accepted, went thru all the "loops" and then the manager at this certain location called him to come in and fill out some paperwork. He said it was a "mountain of paper" and upon reading very carefully each page that he signed, he came across a page that stated the he would be responsible for any damage to the equipment. This friend, politely go up and left.
I would never touch a job that held me financially responsible for any damage to their equipment. To sign any statement giving them permission to deduct from your pay check damages only proves how desperate a person is for a job.

My husband and I worked for First Fleet for 11 years and enjoyed everyday. They Pay very well and we averaged over $70000 per year every year we were there. The drivers that have problems with them are the kind of drivers that will complain about everything and refuse loads. They also take a lot of time off and disrupt everyone elses schedule. I think all of us have seen these kind of drivers, they move from place to place and have no loyality to anyone but themselves. A company like First Fleet has been around for a long time and most of the drivers have been there for many years. We started out at number 101 and 102 on seniority and after 11 years only moved up to 58 and 59. That should tell you about the turnover.

I currently work for FirstFleet, out of their Tolleson (Phoenix), AZ terminal, and they are, BY FAR, the best trucking company I've ever worked for (I've been driving tractor-trailer off and on since 10/2000, and continuously since 11/2009)!

By the way, the freight at FirstFleet, at least at the Phoenix terminal, does NOT suck! We are dedicated almost exclusively to Kroger Company grocery stores (primarily Smith's in NM, NV, and UT), and their are PLENTY of loads to go around! FirstFleet often has to contract with, among others, carriers like Knight and Heartland Express to cover loads they don't have enough drivers to cover. I average 2,400-2,500 miles a week, sometimes less, sometimes more, and am home at least 2-3 days a week. I could work more if I wanted to, but I'm happy with what I'm currently working, as I want to have somewhat of a life at home!

Does it seem like the "happy" drivers (even the one post wonders) are all speaking in the 'past tense'? If your tenure with First Fleet was so good...why did all of you leave?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
