Apparently that traction control doesn't work all that well. Look at all the volvos that Swift uses and how many end up in the ditch.

No amount of electronic trickery and safety systems can prevent a moron behind the wheel to crash a vehicle!

Sterling, which is owned by Freightliner is what used to be the Ford Aeromax. Muleskinner, you Werner drivers sure love your Petes dont you. The Volvo is a very comfortable, smooth and quiet truck. If your truck has a Cummins ISX, or a D-16 Volvo you should not have any problems. The smaller engine D-13 Volvo has some issues and I would avoid buying one. You will find out for yourself after you drive some different trucks which one is best. I have driven a 9400i International and a Freightliner Classic XL for extended periods of time ands the Volvo 780 is superior to both of them. With fuel prices what they are the days of the large car are numbered. I hate to see them go but 5 mpg is not going to get it. I get 6.5 and better.
-
Large car days are not numbered, maybe for fools that run for a buck a mile. I can get 6.5mpg with mine if i do 60. Like i said my friends volvo gets 5.2mpg with a ISX while my KW gets 5. Atleast i look cool in mine and dont look like im riding a #### vaccum cleaner. Volvo sucks PERIOD! If i get a auero truck it will be a T600 or a 386

May be Swift trucks doesn't have traction control cause it's optional feature.

1.-Are you haul same gross as your friend with Volvo? 2.-ISX more economical than CAT. 3.-As you are real owner/operator cool looking would be a last thing in your bussines priorities.

Werner driver? How sweet...A greenhorn rookie is calling ME a Werner driver.lmao...If 3 yrs is correct for your driving time then I've probably slept behind the wheel and between curves longer than you've driven....Get out and drive a big boys truck and then come back and tell us all about your Volvo. As far as the large car going the way of the buffalo,my magic 8 ball keychain said "not likely"....I'll take its word over yours...They didn't die off as predicted during the first"fuel crises" in the early 70s. -
He is going to look cool all the way out of business. More power to you. After you go out of business I can put you in one of my vaccum cleaners so you can feed your family.

Preach the message of the Largecar my brutha'.
-
My bad it must be TMC then. I managed to learn more about the business side than you have in all of your years of sleeping behind the wheel. At any rate you have a company driver mindset. 5mpg is still garbage. You need 6.5mpg or better to be profitable.
-
Maybe for you, i still make a #### good living with 5mpg with todays fuel prices. I dont haul cheap crap..... Yes i like the way my truck looks, i take pride in my truck, for some of you it may seem stupid but trucks are my life. I drive what i like not what is practical. I will never be seen in a volvo, so dont worry you wont have to put me in your vacum cleaner because i have been in the independent game alot longer than you, as well as growing up in trucking..... Then again once its time for yout to sell the volvo because repair bills are pilling up i would not put you in my "Large Car" because i dont need a rookie tearing it all apart..... Like Muleskinner said, go drive a big boy truck before you come post crap about how superior a volvo is..... I dont mean the classic you drove either, that is hardly a large car...... Im sure you wouldnt be able to back my KW up, it turns like a battleship and guess what I LIKE IT!
1. we haul the same loads, hes usually a couple thousand lbs lighter.
2. might be more economical, never will be as reliable, EVER! pre-2008
3. WHAT? Oh i see what you mean, no im not worried about looking cool as i know my truck already does. Like stated previously i drive what i like.
