Well if they kick me out of this one I'll go over to that one, if I'm correct it just across the street lol. Thanks man! Also saw a subway on Google maps about a mile down the street that looked like it had a little bit of truck parking, could probably make it there before the QC kicks me on duty.

But, judging by the other 8 or so trucks I'm now surrounded by at this place, I don't think they're too strict on enforcing their "no overnight parking" rules. Reefer just pulled in next to me, that's my sign its time to doze off to some nice white noise.

I never minded sleeping next to a reefer unit. It's the #### APU's that bother the heck out of me! Especially with the ones that have the exhaust pointed directly at the sleeper of the truck next to it.

Thats why I always try to park out of the way, especially at OCs, I figure the noise of the APU may bother some as it starts and stops.

Have enjoyed reading your adventures, DFO.

I leave for orientation in Green Bay on Monday; it's been nice following you so I have some idea what to expect.

and I wanted to reply so I get notifications when you post new stuff!

I'm guessing you went to school for your cdl? The instructors in Green Bay will teach you more in the first 5 days than you learned at school. They are anal, precise, and fun all at once. Have fun up there!

Thanks Chopper! I went through a 'condensed' school - 160 hours, learned how to operate the truck. The instructors were great, and I got what I expected out of the school - enough to pass the state test so I could get my Class A. I have all my endorsements as well - doubles/triples, tankers and HazMat. I hope to learn a lot from the instructors in GB. I do intend to be a sponge - I don't even know what I don't know, at this point.

I know I will need more practice backing, but I also expected that. I don't expect to make beaucoup cash my first year as a driver, just enough to keep the bills paid and get a better idea of what I'm doing :biggrin_25519:. Following DFO's threads has been very helpful in getting an idea of what to expect with Schneider, both from his posts and all the replies from others. It is appreciated. Between these threads and what I could find on here about Werner and Swift, I chose Schneider as my first company - I actually had a pre-hire from Werner within 8 hours of the school faxing my app in.

I'm excited about starting work, and right now, a good bit nervous about hauling a loaded trailer! We bobtailed some on one day, and the next two weeks were with a trailer. (Bill said we were hauling 'sailboat fuel'...lol) Here's hoping I get a patient 'training engineer'!

Congrats on getting this far, not too much longer and you'll have your own truck and be on the road. While I didn't do my initial company training in Green Bay, when I was up there for the IC training, the people up there seemed to be some of the best Schneider has to offer. Maybe it was just because they knew they'd be getting a $1074/week payment out of me LOL, but seriously though, they'll do you right.
