About a year ago with my O/O brother we had a tire blow on the inside front drive that took out our air bag. This was late afternoon on a Friday and with a couple of phone calls we determined that if we waited for road service we weren't going to make our delivery on time. The only option was disconnecting and driving 15 miles to tire service before they closed for the day. Both their service trucks were out on calls and by the time they got to us we would have had to wait over 6 hours for them to arrive. By running bobtail to the shop we were hooked back up and running within 3 hours and made our delivery on time.
This certainly isn't an ideal situation at all, but we left the trailer in broad daylight with triangles out and a kingpin lock on it, and called our company to make sure they were aware of the situation. -
How often do you even see the triangles placed correctly for the type of road, per the DOT? If they're out there at all, they're usually too close together, or in the wrong position for the type of road. (Or already run over or blown over)

Wow... about a year ago, a few miles east of Portland, OR, on I-84, I came across a trailer PARKED in the outside lane (two lanes of traffic)... No triangles... and the truck sitting on the shoulder 200 feet down the road. No smoking brakes, either. Nor could I see anybody in the cab of the truck. The oddest thing I ever saw. It appeared to have been deliberately parked and the gear lowered and then the truck pulled up. No skidmarks on the road... nothing.

I can't remember the last time I saw triangles set up properly.

Twice in January I saw the 3 triangles on the shoulder and no truck or trailer. They are reusable
