How much does stevens deduct from your pay check per week for the cdl school anyone?
-
I think it is $24.50 once a week. Stevens pays $25 a week. They don't nessicaraly take it out of every check. If you TransFlo at end of every load (trip) you could potentially get paid several times in a week.KoloradoB Thanks this.

Why would anybody want to work for this company much less be in debt to them for schooling?
BORNtoROAM Thanks this. -
Because we weren't all born with a silver spoon in our mouth, independently wealthy and a gear shifter in our hand.
Some of us have to work to make something of our lives, not sit around and deride others for trying to improve. -
i have worked at walgreen's 7 years and i'm going to "quit" (can get my job and pay back if it don't work out) to get my CDL i just wanna get in the business,
i know the first year is going to suck ### low pay no home time but i don't care. as long has i have the cash for food and phone bill i'm set. No wife, no kids, i'm pretty much going to live out the truck for a year at least. My dad works for combined transport hauling glass. With 1 yr exp he can get me in. Making real cash about 60k a year for company driver he makes more cause he's a o/o[h=2][/h] -
It would seem you get the point. I think too many have high expectations of pay and free time ect ect. Thing is you you gotta pay your dues and you wanna do it with a company where training and safety are top priorities. Stevens has that. While training your pay is only $350/week (at least was when i did it) before taxes and deductions. basically you have just enough for food and to pay cell bill. but it gets better when you finnaly go out solo. It is up to you then. Make it how you want to make it. Just remember if you want miles you gotta run. There is no such thing as sleeping in. Even cushion loads have to be run like you are out of time. You never know when you will break down. And if you get ahead request a repower so you don't have to deal with the reciever and down time. It's all about time management and keeping those wheels rolling l.

You don't have to settle for that same old line of your first year is gonna suck. This is a job. Do your due homework and stay away from the companies here with so many bad reports.
BORNtoROAM Thanks this. -
Right... and who takes a green "gee I wanna be a trucker" and pays them .40cent a mile? All the training companies pay about the same. After talking to a Werner driver who had been with them for three years she was making less than me. All the "good" companies want at least a year usually 2.

it only took me 30 minutes worth of research to figure out that Stevens would have been a poor choice when they first recruited me out of school. too many people get duped by the shiny brochure they send you and all the BS inside it. researching stevens is what led me to this board actually. so i for one am very grateful to the people like the guy you are deriding for making it clear to me i was about to make a mistake by signing on with them.Last edited: Feb 1, 2014
