What state should my title be in

She was trying to figure out a way to smuggle sperm out of his cell so he could have someone to carry on after the injection. I very politely mention she should get help at a local mental clinic and I am now banded for life there.

Richter, it shouldn't matter where your title is based out of. I have a FL title and run IL baseplates. When I bought my trailer through Landstar, I had an IL title with my FL address on it.

 

For an small company fleet, which state would you recommend to register/title trailers in? Trucks are better registered in the state where you reside or principally do business, but for trailers, which states make better financial sense in terms of offering non-expiring lifetime tags? And how much is it to register an LLC in that state to be able to get the trailer tags in that state? Any advice? NC? MT? IO? OK?

 

Have you actually talked to someone who can advice you properly on how to setup a corporation? I would ditch the LLC thing and set it up differently.

I have everything registered in my home state because it is easier.

 

In Maine you don't have to register your business to have your trailers registered. I always used MBI Trailers as my agent. It beat paying FL 6.5% sales tax for sure.

 

We have it pretty easy in Iowa, you can claim tax exempt if 25% or more of your miles are outside of the state, we can run a county plate that way and not have to deal with the folks in Des Moines.

its the same office where you would title a car or a pickup, in Georgia its thru the tax commissioner in each individual counties. they also issue car tags, in ga a title changeover is 18.00 , file out a form, pay the 18.00 and youre done.


I wouldn't be as concerned so much about a title as I would be leasing to tmc. it just seems they have many more company trucks than lease ops. just never saw that turn out well. there are many entirely o/o flatbed outfits to pick from, and from your posts you seem to have been running your own show, you may have started at tmc, but that would be a hard pill to swallow.

I guess some just wonder how with your wealth of knowledge on so many different aspects of trucking, you wouldn't know where to get a vehicle title in your home state. or maybe that wasn't the original question, maybe you just wanted to know if it was necessary.

but let me ask, with all the 100 % o/o companies out there , why are you leasing to tmc?
