Transport America Orientation went good for the first day. I went through FFE Orientation last year followed by 8 months OTR. I did definitely like the TA orientation better so far. Didnt treat you like a baby, very self paced, and people were nice enough. Good lunch of anything you wanted from Dominoes Pizza, Sandwiches or two topping pizzas and free soda all day. Mostly computer work and of course a physical. Physical was more stenuous than FFE by far, it was the usual but had about 5 excersizes to do to get the heart rate up then it had to fall below 120 within a minute. Road test was about like FFE just the normal stuff trying to make sure you arent going to kill someone. I will post here for the next couple days to give people a realistic idea of what to expect. I really liked to read about peoples experiences so thought I would try to help out a little as well!

Finished off great today I was assigned a tractor and am heading out Monday. Company definatley has some really neat things for drivers like their new e services internet site. Very concerned about safety which is good. We will see the truth here soon I will try to keep up with this when I come for hometime!

I see you're in Atlanta. I lived in Marietta for about 15 years. Probably coming back within the next couple weeks. Looking to get into the biz myself.

thank you for posting this. i just recently went thru the FFE academy myself. was otr with a trainer for appr. 4 weeks. was very disappointed in the training. too many days sitting at truckstops while my trainer visited family members. i am now getting ready to set up orientation with transport america in the birmingham location. i am hoping all goes well. :) really need to get to work again.

went to orientation from the 10th -12th and then drove to atlanta from birmingham in a rental car..since then i have been otr with a trainer driver for 1 week and with a local trainer driver for 5 days. passed my roadtest this morning. got to use the simulator. now waiting for a ride with another driver to where my assigned truck is sitting. hope it is alright, it was abandoned by a driver at a walmart supercenter! happy halloween everyone!
