You mean the Euro tests or HaZmat tests...
Well a swedish Trucking mag tried to test one and nocando.
First of all It´ll fail the crash test, the frame is too lightweight built.. so is the front axle, the noise level inside is like 10 yrs ago.
The Glass, Brakes, axles are main reasons you can´t register a brand new US truck in Europe. Just doesn´t cut the safety standards.

A Guy imported a W900L 90´s something with hopes to work with it over here...ended up just customizing it here and took it back with him to Canada.
Them weak front axles is a thing which makes it impossible to get even a COE to get to work with full weights (140tonnes).
Australians use European axles on their Kenny´s and lights are one thing that are insufficient too so a Aussie specced might be an option.
In fact I´m looking on that as I´d still would like to drive one here.

Volvo has nothing to do with Scania...Scania was once together with SAAB ( the car and airplane company)..their logos still are almost identical with the Griffon.
M.A.N is the old German (Submarine) engine maker and independent truck maker who tried to buy Scania and Well Mercedes...they own Freightliner wasn´t it so ?
DAF belongs to Paccar and has the roomiest Cabin of them all and seems to be nicest to drive, a friend has a 510hp Spacecab Semi.
Iveco belongs to Fiat Group ( like Ferrari,Maserati,Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Ducati motorcycles)
And YES Europeans dig V-8´s...MAN, Mercedes,Scania, Iveco all have one in their lineup. Mercedes used to have V10s and Iveco V12´s
The current hp leder is MAN at 680DIN hp...thats ca. 700 SAENet.

Regarding the crast test in Europe
    Here´s a pic to clear things... a W900 next to a Volvo FH12/16 COE.
Think a US truck would stand a chance in a head on (especially with our totals )?
A Kenny weights about 1/3 less and it´s basically all in the frame to cope with our totals.

Don´t get me wrong I love the looks of a classic US truck..especially a COE but was stunned when a Norwegian trucker with his K100 Aerodyne was dwarfed next to me in a Scania COE a while back, I thought a delivery truck pulled next to me !
Once I believed them Cabins on our COE´s be small compared to Conventionals but No..they have flat floors and most you can stand straight up between the seats.
The beds are ca 36inch wide..so they ain´t that wide but one can stand up at least in the cabin and there´s a lot of space between the seats.
And yes they are all loaded regarding options.

Don't let your anti American politics passion over rule your common sense. The axles were designed for and work well with the USA weights. We don't as a general rule run 140 Tons here.

I thought volvo was the one who was using the hollow axles now with the air bags in front? Seems to me like our solid beams are heavier than that. Thats a W900B with 42" bunk, its a old early 80s truck, they are not that big.... Some of the trucks on american highways, tractor alone are almost as long as your whole combination..... project 350 anyone?

As far as weight, i was hauling steel in michigan with 8 axle doubles, B-trains, and was allowed 161,000 gross with my skinny front tires. Well most of the time i was alot more, and never had issues with front axle, even with all that weight i doubt i had more than 12,000 on my steers.

Don´t take my words out of the content.

We run with 140 tonnes and need those Heavy duty things.and from that point of view they are weak.
Actually I know a guy that has a W900 as a showtruck with a special pwermisson to operate it and it has..get this NO front brakes at all.
    And that´s from the factory.

I´m perfectly aware that they work for the loads you generally haul.

Like 550 mentioned the way we do it over here we aren't carrying that much weight on the front axle. Apparently ya'll are. Here we just keep adding axles to the trailers, not adding more weight for the truck to carry.

Comparing our ops to yours is comparing apples to oranges and is fairly irreverent to this discussion of Vovlos versus largecars.

This load probably only has 12,000 to 14,000 lb axles on the tractors.

Only 140 tons? Hell, we haul that light weight gross over here with a '68 single axle Diamond Reo with a 230 cummins and a 8 spd on a 24' single axle stiff necked lowboy with NO brakes on the whole truck through the three sisters in Wy.:biggrin_255:I forgot to take my anti B.S. pill this morning...sorry
