That's what I was thinking. He said because it's a Detroit engine.

It shouldn't matter...that pretty much defeats the purpose of the "shop" if they can't even work on their own vehicles.

    I agree 100%.

I do recovery when I'm on my hometime. I'm always amazed how often they send the trucks to the dealer because the company shop can't fix it. They seem only capable of doing PMs.

Wow...me personally owning these programs have paid for themselves countless times not to talk of how much money a shop can save instead of going to the dealer. Those mechanics are just part changers they don't actually understand how everything actually works. :biggrin_25511:

Call out for the diesel doctor on 19 next time you're in effingham Illinois.... he has the software for every truck on the road...

BUT understand that your carrier will plug in their own computer next time you have service done....... they'll be able to see when the system was altered, and you could likely lose your job..

I know how to disable the log...idle shutdown is a fleet setting as well as event logging in the ECM. Disable event logging, disable idle shutdown, then turn event logging back on then the change won't show up in the log.

There's probably only one or a handful of people in maintenance who know the password and likely they sit in an office - not turning wrenches on trucks. You give a fleet mechanic the password and the next thing you know they've got a lucrative "side biz" turning up the governed speed and turning off idle features. Don't think you will get anywhere with freightliner either but doesn't hurt to ask.

That's very true...you got a point there. But all it takes is a call to detroit and the backdoor password then you're in but i'm pretty sure the fleet mechanics don't know that.
