Thanks for the great thread!

Old thread but if you live in New York ntts is a great school. A little pricey but worth it for the experience they offer

That's what we used to call an "over-drive" transmission.

In my opinion, $8,000-$10,000 is outrageously insane! No thank you. There are schools that will teach you the same exact stuff, AND the tuition is cheaper. I've found some very decent schools, for $5,000 or under. I guess it all depends on how much work you're willing to put into research and talking to schools, how you wish to spend YOUR money, and how blindly lead you are by the school's recruiters. I guess another thing dictates is where your location is in NY, but like I said: $8,000-$10,000 is too much, when I can get the same training for half if not less of that cost.
By the way, MOST companies that offer tuition reimbursement go up to $6,000 (I may even be pushing it). I'm not sure how'd that work out either. Any way you look at it, you'll be paying at least half of it back. Again, no thanks. I hope you ACTUALLY receive more than just learning how to get your CDL!
Best of luck to you! -
They teach you a lot. And after the pell grant I'm only paying about 5 grand which you have to have a certain amount of hours to get the full grant. Company I'm going to offers 10 grand for tuition but even at 6 grand from a company school would be paid for. For someone that needs the extra practice it's great especially with the different classroom stuff you learn and all of the maneuvers. And i could have gone to boce a for lies money with less instruction and less job options. I did research several schools before i committed

That sounds good then. I think it is too much money, but as long as you get the training you desire, that's all that matters. I've narrowed my search down to SAGE, and Maine's Truck Driving Institute. If you don't mind my asking, what is your starting CPM?
Best of luck to you! -
Ya those schools are a distance from me. Ntts does a serpentine backing and lots of other backing maneuvers with tons of road driving. Plus owner operator classes. I'll pm about cpm. I'm gonna drive for arg which is part of wadhams based in Phelps ny

Thanks, man! I'm glad you found a good school, and everything is working out for you, so far. It sounds like you are approaching this in a smart manner! I hope all goes well for you. I, too, have been looking into AGR myself. By the way, I got your PM, and sent you one back!
Best of luck to you! -
I am also a past Student of CDT, was also a Instructor years later.
