You do know that there are 'portable' GPS's, right?
It is not difficult to bring your own GPS on whatever truck you get in. -
Bring your own anyway
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Yep better off having your own.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Yes, i know about portable gps but that doesnt mean its a truck drivers gps. gps people use for travel isnt the same as garmin or rand mcnally which are designed for the trucker. they will send you on parkways and low bridge roads. theres alot of that in the northeast. so then what do these companies do, print out google map directions for their drivers?
-
No..the companies don't care..until you hit a low bridge.
-
Their is GPS made for trucking its more expensive and uses trucking routes instead of all routes passenger cars can use.
Saddletramp1200 and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
No, they expect you to be able to read a map.Thomas`s brothers manual GPS.
NavigatorWife, FLATBED, Tonythetruckerdude and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm probably gonna be burned at the stake here, but....WHY would you need a GPS as a local driver??? You can only go so far from your terminal in a 14 hour day, unless you get a motel. If one cannot remember his or her way around on routes he or she probably runs on a regular basis, then that person needs some more training or something..
Tonythetruckerdude, Cbake84, Saddletramp1200 and 1 other person Thank this.
