Not sure what it is with WV and bridges but it does the same thing coming in on 35.

My first trip with the Garmin I had to pick up a load in central IL. Drive in to town and get to a low overpass so had to turn around and find a way to into town from the other direction.

Got to the shipper and was ######## about the money I wasted on my new GPS when they started laughing and told me the height was fine. The city posts those signs to keep trucks from driving through town.

I had the same problem in Cumberland, MD just at the bottom of the hill on I-68. In the link someone provided a while back there is a POI website that lists all of the bridge heights/weights and you can add them to your Garmin somehow. I haven't figured it out yet but once i do i'll do it myself. lol

    Anyway, here's the link again.

It's a special place for sure. When most of the surrounding road names include "run" "knob" "trace" "hollow" or the like, you can bet it's a place you don't want to take a big truck.

It was daylight when I backtracked. The erroneously listed bridge is in Lost River, WV. and crosses the town's namesake.

I have misplaced my cable that connects my 760 to my computer for updates. Where can I replace it? Thanks

Can anyone confirm what this clerk at Love's said - about more of the Garmins were returned, than Rand McNally.

I've almost enough points to get one and based on this thread, was going to get the Garmin 7 inch Dezl 760.
The Rand McNally is on clearance sale right now, for $300 vs the Garmin at full retail at $400.

Have there been any new developments or changes that might influence a decision?

Any recommendations for a purchase within the next month or so?

I love my Garmin and haven't had any trouble at all with it. I'd certainly buy it again.

I'd say study the features of both and buy the one you like best. IMO, each will have some negatives and potentially have an operating issue now and then.

Side note: when I see a deep discount on one choice of a device I'm shopping for, I question that. Are they about to release a new model? The MATS show is end of next month, perfect timing for a product announcement. Or are they just not selling for some reason?
