No time to read the whole lengthy, entertaining thread. ^
Is it legal for me, as a voldumbteer, to be "dead tired"? Yes.
Did I fall asleep at the wheel? No.
(A number of times I have taken an exit north of this location and slept before driving home. I was planning to sleep there again but the ice impact shock got my adrenalin flowing.
No, I was not angry. I was understanding.)
Am I allowed to enter the trailer number into my cell phone? Yes.
I can also speak the number into its recorder feature.
I also voice-dialed our Walmart store which is already stored in my cell phone. They told me what to do.
(Oh, we are allowed to make and receive cell phone calls while driving.)
Since I was below the speed limit, I was in lane three. The trailer was in lane two, passing me.
No ice or snow seen on the trailer. No warning.
Yes, I would have pursued Walmart for damages, with vehicle description and everything well documented and time-stamped.
There was lot of ice, not sliding and falling off, but being caught in 65 mph headwind and blowing UP off the trailer roof.
As I posted before, the TERMINAL should check for and remove the ice. Not a trucker on a ladder.
Ice on trailer roof blows off and hits our car

Sorry to hear that you have no time for entertaining readin'.

Ya know, all work and no play makes Bob a dull voldumbteer.
Perhaps you'll have some spare free time to read this entertainin' post.
If not, it's all good , -- I can use the typin' practice. And maybe someone
out thar will have the time to be entertained.
Really?:smt107
So, as a "voldumbteer, you're above the law?
Are you super-human, impervious to the effects of sleep deprivation?
What makes you so special?
If what you're tellin' us is true, -- and I have some doubts about that, --
I'm thinkin' this issue needs to be brought to the attention of someone with the authority to correct the mistake of excludin' you from any list of those who aren't required to adhere to laws passed in the interest of public safety. If your voldumbteering is important I would think you'd want to operate a motor vehicle as safely as possible. What if you were on a mercy mission, -- and crashed as a result of bein' distracted?
Pretty irresponsible on your part.
You're more dangerous than ice/snow blowin' off the roof of a Big truck truck trailer.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Maybe not this time.
But, even you can't guarantee you won't fall asleep at the wheel next time.
You're playin' Russian Roulette with an attitude of invincibility.:smt015
Seems as though your impact shock was actually a blessing in disguise.
It woke you up.
You should have chased the Big truck truck driver until he pulled over,
and thanked 'em.
You, and others, might still be alive because of that incident.
Question: Of the motorists who have fallen asleep at the wheel, --- do you think they thought they wouldn't fall asleep at the wheel, or thought that they would fall asleep at the wheel?
I doubt anyone plans on fallin' asleep while drivin'.
How 'bout you?
If, by chance, you do fall asleep at the wheel and injure or kill someone due to your negligence, ---
will you be able to handle livin' with what'cha did for the rest of your life?
You'd be worse than a drunk driver.
What do you have to be angry about?Coulda fooled me.
If so, what you're understanding appears to be convoluted.
Just because you say you can doesn't mean you should.
I know, I know, .... I already said that.
While you're doin' those distracting things, are you a better driver?
Well, ............ Imagine that!
Talk about bein' prepared for the unknown possibilities life on the Big road can throw at'cha.
How you do dat? :smt102
You're beginnin' to amaze me here, Bob.
They didn't, by chance, also tell you where to go, ..... as well as what to do when you got there, ..... did they?:smt112
Wally World employees are known for bein' pleasantly helpful, but not real good at passin' messages to the front offices.
I'm gonna say it again, ---
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
It doesn't seem like you understand how dangerously distracted you are while using your cell phone. Can you comprehend the results of studies conducted that clearly indicate an increase in crashes occur when folks are distracted by cell phone use while driving?
What makes you think you're not a highway menace when you engage in an activity that studies have proven to have a negative effect on highway safety?
Do you issue a warning before you use a cell phone while driving? If folks yell at you when you're drivin' while usin' a cell phone, do you scream back that you're a VIP chimney sweep reportin' a Big truck truck driver for bombardin' you with ice and snow?
Do you carry or wear a badge?
If not, does the prospect appeal to you?
I'm curious, ..... when you're drivin' an ambulance, do you have lawyers chasin' you?
Now, ..... what were you sayin'?
I notice that you tend to repeat yourself a lot.
I've heard that if a lie is repeated often enough folks begin to believe it.
Not that that has anythang to do with you.
Just sayin'.
Here's your chance to achieve notoriety Bob. All ya gotta do is submit your plan for a solution to your problem.
If y'all aren't part of the solution, by golly, y'all are part of the problem.
So, get off the cell phone, get some sleep, and solve this problem first thing in the morning.
By the way, didja read all of this entertainin' post this time?
I sure didn't.
I don't read anything I write.
dutchieinquebec and Numb Thank this. -

Funny, no one's mentioned snow/ice build-up from the undercarriage of a trailer falling to the pavement, and doing possible damage. (to your vehicle)

-
Id be nice if all the truck stops had one of those roof plows,we have one where i work.
-
Big difference between ice clumps dropping onto pavement and ice "plates" blowing up into the air and falling how many feet? onto vehicles in an adjacent lanes.
21:51 Just got a call to deliver blood to a mountain hospital. -
You're kidding, right? Is worker's comp going to cover me if I slip and fall from a trailer roof that I'm not supposed to be on in the first place? Someone who sweeps chimneys for a living would have insurance to cover work related injuries with premiums that reflect the level of risk involved in working from high places. (Unless you're one of those fly by night business people who cut corners)
There is very little equipment or infrastructure in place that would allow a driver to safely and efficiently remove snow and ice from a trailer roof in a cost effective manner. That is the simple truth that we all have to live with.
Bottom line is that a windshield isn't worth someone's broken neck. People have been killed by ice flying from a trailer roof but it is an exceedingly rare occurrence that can largely be avoided by staying away from trucks.Mikey60919 Thanks this.
