I had a clerk tell me the exact opposite at two different truck stops.
I think they are both good devices.
Here's something you could try. Go to a Best Buy that has the RM, buy it and use it for 2 weeks, then return it (they have a 15 day return policy). If you liked it, go to Loves and get one. If you didn't like it, then strongly consider the Garmin. Some people might have a problem with this approach, but I discovered it accidentally.
I'm currently using a Garmin DEZL-560 and am fairly pleased with it. If you factor in the extra cost for the traffic receiver on the RM (included with the Garmin) the cost is probably very similar. You can also get traffic updates on the RM linked somehow through wifi from your smart phone if you don't want to buy the receiver but I believe there is a small subscription fee for that method.

Typical sales pitch. Make the non sales unit seem junk so folks buy the one on sale. I love garmin and cant see me buying any thing else.

Maybe some would have a problem because it is horrendously unethical?

Well that's kind of what I was getting at when I said that. I bought one and truly was not satisfied and then returned it. Everyone has to make their own decisions.

Thank you. I can't tell you how encouraging that is...

Thank you. Thems some good points. I don't know that I will wait for the MATS show unless word leaks out regarding some great new features or functions that will rock the market.

I'm one that would have a problem doing that. If anything, I would have to look into Love's return policy or otherwise live with my initial decision.
Thank you.

I don't think this was a sales pitch or she would have steered me to one of those hot dogs she was putting on the grill... ツ
Thank you.

Weather reports are not an interest. I take it as it comes and would prefer that the weather channels were removed from the dash radio.
Thank you.
I've never been able to justify the cost of any gps, but I'll go for the Garmin, since there is no cash outlay.
Again, all based on the comments in this thread.
I appreciate all the input.
