It looks like this thread is starting to draw more class in all the time....Who woulda thunk it in a Volvo thread that so many Roosters would come in to settle in to the roost??lol![]()

Well, Gollll eeee!
Volvo fans make claims and statements not backed with facts about their personal vehicle preferences and/or personal opinions --- and are "insulted" by the truth about Volvos, even with facts introduced into evidence by non-Volvo fans.
Imagine that and go figure.
A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
Especially when y'all actually believe that little knowledge.
For what it's worth, I have a theory.
That being, .........................
Those who constantly harp that "size doesn't matter" are usually the ones who are repeating what they're hearing all the time from others.
Those who have large,...... uh, cars, .... seldom hear that said to them. While those who have small,.... uh, cars, .... seem to be hearing that a lot.
Hmmmmm
Y'all reckon that's because their, .... uh, riders, .... are just tryin' to make them feel better about the size of their, .... uh, cars?
Little, ..... uh, cars, ...... are cute --- but it takes a largecar to get 'er done and properly satisfied.
That's why the television is always advertising how to make a "certain part of a male's", ..... uh, car, ...... "larger." I sure haven't heard any advertising on how to make a "certain part of a male's", ..... uh, car, .... smaller.
If presented with a choice betwixt a LARGE raise in, ..... uh, pay -- or a small raise in same, which do y'all suppose the choice would be?
That's what I was thinkin' too.
Make no mistake -- size DOES matter.

So MickeyFin what you can say about Volvo reliability and BTW what is a wheelbase of european trucks. My VN670 has 211".
-
Did last week some calculations...the whole average for it since its came to service (Jan 07) lifeperiod (120K miles) is 5.5mpg.
I´ver seen everything from 4.9-6.7 ...
4.9 is fully loaded with the pedal to the metal. -

I drove a Peterbilt tri-axle dump one year I HATED it.It had double frame, but was still limber as an old dish rag and visability forget it,like driving blind as far as looks go looked at an old model T Ford lately.

Mule, I enjoyed our little contest on Sat. Im going to trade My vaccum cleaner tomorrow so I can be just like you. What color and specs are your truck? I wanna be just like you.
-
Is "sarcastic" a color?
If not, I'd suggest green.
With polka-dots.
Any color.
Waaayyyy cool!
-
Aftershock, Im just kidding. Mule has a very strong sense of sarcasm and I want to humorously concede defeat. Im getting ready to go back on the road but wanted to say goodbye for a while. Yall keep the shiney side up. I hope my vaccum cleaner doesnt spontaneously fall apart before I get to the Pete dealer.

Well I Hate Volvos...just heard today at our Garages that we´re getting two new Volvos...darn,,,have to quit soon

Volvos are Darn strong, fine gearboxes (manual) the one in the pic.. you sit kinda upfront IMO, the FH16 660hp is the torque king...well with a 1000 c.i. I6 what do you expect ?
The I-shift... well It aint no TH400 let me tell you...
more like a Honda Automatic IMO...
And the competiton :
Scanias are Nice to drive at least as strong as Volvos and a stiffer frame.
V8 has the prestige.
Is the most fuel efficient make too, plus with double glassed sideglasses and serious insulation, real quiet. Considered the King of the Road here.
There was a Scania Longline chassis

http://http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l107/braziliantrucks/ScaniaLongline033.jpg
..ugly as hell... the topline conventional is in my avatar with a German sheperd at the wheel...
I hate the Scania manual Gearbox thou..the Range is so darn slow...
The ScaniaV8 is a legend.... http://campaign.scania.com/v8/
MAN is the second best in fuel milage as we speak the have also the highest Hp combo at the market a V8 at 680hp.
And the second worst gearbox IMO.. the ZF16+4 slow and eats a lot of Hp.
Mercedes..nothing bad to say... I like them,, have V8´s in their lineup too.
Well it is a Mercedes....
DAF...well it´s within Paccar so has same engines as Kenworth. and considered a contender For Scania...looks real same too!
Iveco, reputation is bad here up north but I truly think kinda unjustified.
and Finally the Finnish Sisu...a legend on it´s own.
CatPower,Eaton/Fuller transmission. Sisu Axles (a Kenworth High end option) with a lifting tandem for traction etc.
Frames seems can be used for railroadtracks....
If you want the toughest of them all you´ll get one.
http://www.sisu-trucks.com/portal/en/
*A Good friend of mine Road Raced for the
Sisu factory team
winning the FIA European championship 91-93.
Wheelbases on a Semi is short... we measure it from the driving pairs on them Tandems. If the Tag lifts at the back it´s 114" if it´s a middle tag 154 so for the US measurment it would be 134".
The real truck-trailer Module combos (the 83ft I drive) have around200 the way we measure it..the first tandem, so take another 27/28 to that and it´s how you measure it around 225+ is quite on the spot ?
The back tag Semi is good for traction in the Winter but a bit tricky with jack-knifing especielly with a lot of power...and seems the O/O´s here with semis like to brag.... 700 is the starting point
so there....
now why are our truck so short ?
Because of them darn turning laws... plus every inch counts when you have total lenghts to worry about.
