well i'll catch h**** for this but sometimes you just got to say something. do you remember when the drivers all over the country tried to get all truck drivers off the road for just 1 day to help prove the importance of truck drivers, and they got very little corporation if any from drivers. the vast majority of drivers have gotten them selves into such a financial deficit that they can't afford to miss a days work and for sure don't want to take a chance on getting fired. just think how much money we could all be making if everyone stuck together as one. will it ever happen ? I don't think so. so yeah I be right with the crowd that stands by and lets things happen. that's why things are as screwed up as they are now, we have allowed it to happen and will continue to do so, and use it as a conversation piece on the cb or the over a cup of coffee at the truck stop. I hate that landstar let nhramember go but I have seen some pretty ridiculous stuff they have done in the past.

So when the government says you have to put an electronic chip in your body are you just going to give into that? I've been to jail a few times for disorderly conduct "my mouth" I don't and won't let others walk over me and I don't take no wooden nickel, America did not get built by others waiting for people to do something they simply went out and did it.

Ill stand next to anyone and argue the facts I can park my truck I don't have to run everyday, if you want to go through life getting ran over then you just do that I'm not!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but you shot yourself in the foot on this one.

If you aren't "legal" to go down the road, you don't go down the road. It's that simple, they were right to nail you for no record of duty status, you didn't have one.

All it would have taken was grabbing the backup log you are supposed to have with you and filling it in with a first entry that states "E-Log failure, x time, x location, and continued your log from there, then had your carrier send you your last 8 days. How hard is that?

You rolled over a scale knowing your log was not in order, try and blame the company all you want, but you are the one who drove the truck over the scale with no log.

People like you and I are the rare few, I have some things I believe very strongly in, I will never back down from those.

Now the irony is however, having an Elog is one of those things I thought I was going to hate, but I can see how it is going to fix some things in the industry, and my feelings about it have changed.

For one the reason freight rates in so many areas are so low now is because you have so many people who are willing to cheat on their
books and drive 1100 miles a day so they can move enough of that cheap freight to keep the bill collectors at bay.

Quite frankly when these guys start to go out of business because they can no longer run that illegal log, it is going to drive freight rates up across the board.

Like it or not, the trucking industry, we have brought this upon ourselves, its come from people not standing up for themselves, getting in a pile of debt, and then not being able to say no because they are a slave to that payment. That payment and the thought of losing everything keeps them out there practically killing themselves to make things happen.

I know people who do it too, in fact I know people who do it who are proud of it, as I am sure most of us here do, and those guys they are not someone to be looked up to, those guys are slaves playing it off like they are some kind of trucking rock star.

I tell you what I came back out here with a truck that is paid for, paid cash for it, no banker involved. The stress I do not have is amazing, and I am running a legal log, I am making money doing it, in fact I am making the best money I ever have in the business, and eventually my truck will pay for a newer nicer truck, a newer nicer trailer, and I will be enjoying the trucking business as I already am.

On that note, the government is already tracking you and everywhere you go, they are doing it by your cell phone, and know whats worse? They don't even have to have you turn your phone on, because these new phones are always on, and they have a non removable battery.

You sound like you went sheeple with everything. Grow a set and stand up for yourself. Read back through your post and tell me where all the xxxxxx parts are that you could have stood up for yourself at.

I don't see how elogs will influence the majority of freight rates. Every time that there has been a change to the HOS everyone starts crying about how freight rates are going to have to go up or everyone is going to go broke. Well, guess what, some may have gone broke, but they would have regardless of any changes. You can cling to that idea if it makes you feel better about having a government mandated computer run your life.

For what I do, elog or not, it really won't affect my bottom line at all, there is no cheating on the log with what I do, but I still don't want an elog.

A skooch off topic but why is anyone using faxes for? This archaic technology needs to go the way of the 8 track. Word docs and scanned docs are so much better and more reliable.
