Well as an OTR driver, when I get the green light at the coop I'm gone. I'm training now and wanna see if anyone is taking the student into the coop on a green light so he gets the experience of going through the scales. btw I'm with Roehl so I only have my student 9-14 days and we get the green light a lot. ty

Uh, no. Unless you're trying to annoy the scale master, I'd stay out if you were given a green. You'll get your chance eventually.

There are many ways to deal with that, but if you have Pre-pass, aren't you supposed to obey the light and go by on a green?
Not all scales have the equipment, and some of those are open alot, and it also depends on how large the area is that you run; scale techniques and how they operate vary from quick and easy to difficult, depending on the state and sometimes on those manning the scales.
Getting the green most of the time is a good thing, as for the rest, just clue them in on what is expected when they don't get a green or when there is no Pre-pass. Stop and proceed and do the other things with caution but not be so paranoid about it that they tie up the scale. The splitting the drives thing is a good one, go through a scale that is not operating that has the split the drives feature(Illinois and some others)and show them the workings then without the extra drama of having officers present.
Thanks for wanting to address the issue, most of us had to learn the hard way. -

I never did get a guide book on prepass...I just see a dollar out of my check each week and have the box. green for pass, red for stop in. How those things pick and choose or operate I have no clue. Does the scale master know that you were green? do they care? -
