Im starting out with swift i was going to gain my experience there then i wanted to move to something else to make more money. so i was wondering what would be the best since i live in the new england region flatbed, car hauling, or tanker? Unless theres any others that would pay well, any recommendations would help since I’m starting out with van at swift. Just wondering which one would be able to give me the best pay package in my region. Thank you for the help.

Tanker work is easy and clean work for the most part, I would get all of your endorsements for starters then get a couple years of experience.

Just remember to take your time, don't smack up any trucks and once you've got a couple clean years of driving you can pretty much do whatever you want.

Depends, some good union LTL carriers pay just as well as your better tanker jobs...

    Look into:
    Air gas
    Linde gas
    Liquid air
    KAsteel
    Air products
    Sunoco logistics

Those are just a few tanker jobs...

My vote is for tanker! The only negative thing I have to say about it is getting the washouts after every load (food grade). They take too long in my opinion. Usually between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. That doesn't include waiting to get into a wash bay. Other than that I have no complaints. Hauling food grade I don't have to do anything except transport the product. Great money too!

The pay changes. Hauling cars pays good but it is a lot of work. Bang for the buck is most likely tankers, I am aware of the pun. Vans usually are on the low side. Reefers a bit more.

Still your question has lots of things in it to be considered. I am short fat and lazy. I like live loads and unloads as I get plenty of rest. I am old and my children turned out to be jerks so hometime isn't something that I care about. Money isn't my concern either.

You will have to figure out what you want to do with your life and then figure out want you want to haul. If I was young, I would love the flat bedding stuff as it looks like a new problem with every load. Plus you get to climb around on all the neat looking machines.

And please put your location on your profile so people don't have to search around to find out you live in New England home of the football team most likely to commit a felony.

Prime Inc. has a tanker division somewhere in the Northeast. Check their website.
