lol@chinatown. I miss my Dad who had one FRANKENSTEIN. Learned to drive in another. I remember how difficult it was to train conventional drivers in because there is no reference point or wiggle room.

nah. to change clothes or whatever, you have to lay down.yeah i have driven several over the years long ago.the kenworth aerodynes had a small place to stand and change out but for the most part, crawling over the doghouse to go to bed doesn't rank highly on things i miss.
oh.the spring ride cabinovers were the best ride wise.
not. -
not once you crawled back there and it was that so called double sleeper of the later internationals.well head-room was rather limited now that i think about it.i never got to experience the feeling in the newer(back then newer) freightliner flat floors with the high rise.

I certainly do not miss having to climb over the doghouse. I don't miss the sleeper that consist of a mattress and 2 small shelves. Laying in bed to get dressed. No fridge, no hot plate, no microwave. Certainly don't miss getting out of the truck covered in soot that came in the cab off that 238 Detroit. But I do absolutely miss being able to jack the cab all the way over to access everything on the motor and top of the tranny. Good those were a breeze to work on.

I ran one for a few trips years ago. It was something interesting to experience, but I do not miss driving a cabover.
I didn't like climbing in and out, sitting directly over the wheels makes it ride more roughly, I didn't like climbing over the dog house, and the linkage on the shifter felt funny shifting.
A nice conventional is the way it should be, for me anyway. -

laying in the bed to put your clothes on.... are you nuts.. there is a 40 acre parking lot right there.. use it..lol

Yep, they were designed with driver as the crumple zone.
Hated the ride, especially on California Concrete.
While it was easy to work on when you popped the cab forward, it sucked having the cab inaccessible when you were working on it.
