California drivers: what happens if you fail the CDL test 3 times?

    Kinda simplistic, don't you think? Just because I don't pass doesn't mean I'm unsafe. I'm actually fine out on the road. But it's the yard skills, namely the 90-degree alley dock, that trips me up. I can do it, and have done it numerous times at the cdl school, but making that first "good faith" attempt on the 1st try is a challenge. Add in the fact that I've never been a good tester, going back to my childhood.

    You can derp all day with the CA DMV. They will gladly take all your money and then some.

    What city are you testing in? West Sacramento has a good group of examiners. When I got my CDL back I had a British fella. The only skills portion of the test I had to do was straight line back and offset backing. I've heard they are making wannabes parallel park the truck and trailer. Dont worry, if you fail 3 times the DMV will only charge you a fee. Not sure what you're trucking school will do.
