Mine was the same as Bill's moment. It is truly amazing what quality service pays and sometimes the extra benefits of providing quality service can save you even more money.

My ah-ha moment was when skateboardman recommended camping out in a spot and putting up a mailbox. Now I know he was yankin my chain. I tried it out in Memphis and got a load paying $6.52 a mile on 675 miles. Hate it when that happens. Worst part the fricken agent won't reimburse me for my mailbox!

The "ah hah" moment for me happened years ago. I was running teams with my best friend, it was his truck, we were making very good money running east coast to west and back hauling produce, until one night, I lay sleeping in the bunk and wake up to him screaming "HANG ON" as we smashed into a guard rail. I remember the helpless feeling as I heard the impact. I also remember not wearing the bunk straps and having only the mattress to grab hold of. When it was all over with and we stopped assessed the damage and counted our blessings, I knew it was not going to be pretty pay wise until the truck got fixed. After we got the truck back to the house, I started to contemplate what my next move should be. I had run as a company driver before I ran with him and made no where near the money I was making, or he was making. So the decision was made to buy one. One turned to two, and two turned into court with a girlfriend who decided she liked girls and drugs more than she liked me. I asked for custody of my daughter and the only way the judge would sign off was for me to sell the trucks....

Fast forward to now...married for nearly 10 years to a very supportive woman, we have decided to stop being a company puke and to do it ourselves. Pick up the truck on the 10th of March and a new chapter begins...We shall see how it goes...

Before I finished my training , Companys recruiter told us it will pay 26 cents per mile , and I have to train with goat smelly trainer for 12 weeks. Very same week I find a 379 in E-Bay for very little money and leased flatbed trailer.I am still at it.
